  1. A very well respected dealer once told me that there are a lot of good pressers out there pressing 9.8's into 9.8's.
  2. I still make it a point to watch this at least once a year.
  3. Could it be a matter of simply training the QC people to double check, or are they so inundated with books waiting to be encapsulated that it is worth getting the bulk of the books out and fixing the mistakes later?
  4. Unfortunately, some are so desperate to learn they look to any advice. Most is bad and I never comment on why it is bad, since I consider it free training. There is no substitute for hard work and trial and error training. I pressed for almost two years before I ever touched books for anyone else. Now these Facebook guys buy a press, advertise they have done dozens of books, and are now professionals.
  5. KaptainMyke Those that can, do. Those that cant, teach.
  6. Is it safe to assume signature books are pushed ahead of all else and that is what accounts for these large gaps in books submitted the same day, and not being graded together? 7. Why would you need enlightenment? It's CGC's business. It's their Signature Series Program. They never, ever HAD to allow others to work on SS books, yet they did. Personally, after they acquired CCS, I was surprised to last as long as I did.
  8. That is a question I cannot answer.
  9. I have worked on a ton of those copies. Never seen that notation on any submissions. Did recently get a book come back with “canvassing” that I am still scratching my head about. Newbie graders 😖
  10. Looks like you didn’t get the “super tight” grader this time around.
  11. Immortal Hulk 1 is notorious for this issue. Mainly back cover color rub.
  12. Never had the frayed spine connotation, but I am seeing more notes describing color rub, color loss and other issues with modern comics. Unfortunately the paper and inks being used are not really "color fast" like in the old days and can rub off simply placing a book into a bag and board.
  13. A little dab will do ya. I am guessing he is using these rapidly cooling metals to first heat the ink till it becomes pliable or liquid, and then carefully dab or smear the ink where the color breaks are. Almost like creating a very tiny iron on transfer.
  14. I miss the days of $11 moderns and the $1 credit you got for returning the old label of cracked out slabs.
  15. unfortunately, everyone considers themselves an expert.
  16. I could not get a form completed last night. Gave up around 2:00am.
