  2. Good Evening All! It's San Diego Comic Con Preview time again! Our booths are the usual spot, 4413. Thank you to all my consignors. This show would not be possible without you. Thank you for your support. This year I'm going to change things up. While I will list all the artists whose work has been consigned to me, I have also added over 250 originals to the site. You can't see them yet. I will make the art live on Thursday morning, July 19th San Diego time. This will give the Comic Con buyers first shot at the art, and also taking into consideration the buyers not going to the show. Please don't email or call asking for scans. I will not send any before the art goes live. I will send an email blast again, with a link to the "What's New" page Thursday morning once all the art is live. If you are going to the show and wish to consign art to us there, please feel free to contact me and let me know. The list of artists include, in no particular order: Bill Everett. John Romita Sr. Jack Kirby Don Heck Todd McFarlane David Wright Al Williamson. John Byrne. Bill Stout Bruce Timm Ross Andru C.C. Beck Garcia Lopez. Steve Dillon Bob Hall Gene Byrnes Walt Kelly Frank Robbins Bill Sienkiewicz Louis Williams Joe Bennett John Cassaday Dan DeCarlo Stan Goldberg Greg Land Tom Raney Gene Colan Ed Hannigan Bob Kane Gil Kane Jerry Ordway Paul Reinman Sprang Curt Swan Chris Bachalo Reed Crandall Joe Kubert Kelley Jones George Herriman Alfred Andriola Billy DeBeck Stan Lynde Jerry Bingham Joe Staton Yap Guang Ed Benes Sean Chen Steve Epting Carmine Infantino Jim Lee Steve Rude Mike Mignola Adam Hughes Neal Adams Russ Manning Ed McGuinness Win Mortimer Don Newton John Rosenberger Mike Sekowsky Dave Stevens Mike Wieringo George Wilson Mike Parobeck Marshall Rogers Walter Berndt Chester Gould Mac Raboy Howard Chaykin Michael Turner Wally Wood Brett Booth Tom Grummett Sandu Florea J.G. 3. I'll be set up at SDCC in booth 4313/4315. Look for the announcement of what I will bring next Sunday night. MI
  4. Mitch Itkowitz/Graphic Collectibles will NOT be set up at the Ultimate La La Show. However, as usual, I will be at SDCC at booths 4413/4415. MI
  5. Hey All, This is the final call for consignments. I am able to accept consignments shipped to me to arrive no later than July 9th. After that date any consignments will have to be shipped to my Hotel in San Diego. Thanks to all that have consigned. Best, Mitch Itkowitz Graphic Collectibles
  6. Here is a very tight comprehensive painting for Star Trek IV by Peak. Not the best photo, but too big to scan. The size is 32 x 40, mixed media and signed. If interested, PM me for price.
  7. Peak's art for "Apocalypse Now" would sell for much more than $100K. I sold an unused final painting for $50K 2 years ago.
  8. The consignor has a reserve in place. He would not let it sell for $20K
  9. As soon as I get a decent shot of it, I'll have it on that Facebook page.
  10. I have a very tight, large color comp for this movie by Peak. I'm asking only $6000
  11. And I'll more for sale at Comic Con and my web site at the same time.
  12. Whoever this "Robby Reed" might be, He is wrong on one topic. Mort Meskin never drew a Batman story. I don't know where he got his information. I spoke with Meskin back in the late 70s. I asked if he ever drew a Batman story as I thought I remembered a story with his credits. Mort said he never drew a Batman story, nor did he remember helping Jerry Robinson with inks. And a Meskin Batman story would have been memorable. Also, I don't believe that Bob Kane had as much Batman art as someone posted. There is no record of him saying so, and if so, it would have been on the market by now. What Kane did do is take a bunch of Carmine's Batman and Detective cover originals, cut them up and made a collage for display when he had art shows. Mitch I.
  13. With the San Diego Comic Con almost upon us, I am looking for your quality art to take to San Diego! I want to thank everyone who consigned art to me last year. I always do well at San Diego, but last year was the absolute best year for sales. it was all due to the many who consigned art! Thank you all! I have been exhibiting at San Diego Con for over 40 years, longer than any other Comic Art or Illustration dealer. And July will mark our 42nd year in business! Our booths are usually swamped with buyers even before the show officially opens! Here is what I'm specifically looking for... Comic Book Art from the 1940s - 1990s Newspaper Strip Art from the 1920s - 1960s Magazine Illustration Art from 1900 - 1975 Movie Poster Paintings from 1950s - 1980s My commission rate is competitive with other dealers and auction houses. I'll get you the best possible price for your art. We will discuss the final prices before any art is sold. All art is fully insured from the time it leaves your hands right through the convention and back to my office. I have a Consignment Agreement which I have all consignors sign before any art is given to me. Ask me for a copy. Almost immediate payment right after San Diego. No need to wait 30 or 45 days! Please contact me at mitkowitz@hvc.rr.com or call me at 845-246-0952, or my cell at 845-399-7312 and lets talk! Thanks, and look forward to hearing from you. Best, Mitch Itkowitz Graphic Collectibles
  14. I always got the impression that Carbonarro thought himself to be the second coming of Steve Tyler.
  15. How many times I've heard this story from illustrators over the last 40 years. But only when a painting became iconic or valuable down the road. That's how it was back then. Handshake deals, shady contracts, work for hire. Doesn't matter what the artist wants. He is certainly not going to get any more than what he was paid unless written in a contract. Should he get compensation almost 50 years later for ancillary rights? That's up for debate. But rarely did it ever happen back then, unless the artist's agent was savvy enough to foresee the future. Silverman had nothing but contempt for the painting, until it was famous. Certainly not going to get compensation now. Maybe a few years after he did the painting. Like I said, the road is littered with stories of "wronged" artists. M
  16. Good Evening All, It has been a while since my last update. In that time, there have been some changes. The biggest has been the lack of new illustration art on the site. I have decided to virtually stop selling illustration, except for rare originals, when they might be offered to me. My reasons are many, but I prefer to keep them private. So that means that I've gone full circle. Starting in the Summer of 1976 with a small pile of comic art, I now return to my roots by concentrating on comic art. That means I will rely on collectors consigning to me. With over 40 years experience, and competitive consignment rates, why wouldn't you? I will NOT be repping any contemporary comic book artists. I simply have no desire. And with that, I bring you a large comic art update. Click HERE to see all the new art. If you want, you can go HERE to see all the Newspaper Strip Art I have added. Comic Book Artists added are: Neal Adams J.G. Jones Mark Bagley Rob Jones Ed Benes Dan Jurgens Brett Booth Joe Jusko Frank Brunner Gil Kane Carl Burgos (attributed) Todd Kurosawa John Buscema Bob Layton John Byrne Mike Machlan Georgio Comolo Kevin Maguire Tony Daniel Leonard Manco Dan DeCarlo Gray Morrow Jan Duursema Yanic Paquette Fastner & Larson Dan Parent Jackson Guice Eric Powell Paul Gulacy Steve Rude Bob Hall Tim Sale Tony Harris Joe Simon Carmine Infantino Chris Sprouse Ben Templesmith Ty Templeton Alex Toth Sal Trapani Herb Trimpe Tim Truman Lee Weeks Mike Wieringo Frank McLaughlin I have also adjusted prices on some of the Alex Toth originals as well as the Tony Salmons originals. Newspaper Strip Artists include: Al Andriola Gus Arriola Walter Berndt Martin Branner R.M Brinkerhoff Ernie Bushmiller Gene Byrnes Milton Caniff Al Capp Dale Connor Ed Dodd Tad Dorgan Ed Carl Chester Gould Harold Gray Harry Haenigsen Pete Hansen Bill Holman Fred Johnson Frank Johnson Mel Keefer Walt Kelly Fred Lasswell Mell Lazarus Moe Leff John Liney Jorge Longaron Stan Lynde Darrell McClure George McManus Dale Messick Bob Naylor Bob Oksner Charlie Plumb Alex Raymond Frank Robbins Otto Soglow Raeburn Van Buren Mort Walker Watso Frank Willard Elmer Woggon George Wunder If you have any questions, please feel free to cal at 845-246-0952 or email at mitkowitz@hvc.rr.com Thanks for looking and have a great week. Best, Mitch Itkowitz Graphic Collectibles
  17. The price was at least $2500 if not more. I might have a copy of my catalog that had the painting for sale.
  18. I sold this painting for Sanjulian back in the mid 80s.
