  1. Probably, but Lynn does not remember exactly which pages.
  2. Frank and Lynn. They never filed a police report. The art was stolen from their apartment during a party or they bought pages to show to a party.
  3. I wonder how Spencer got those pages, as most were stolen.
  4. Well regarded and collectible are two different things. You can buy a Buck Rogers Sunday for almost the same price. MI
  5. A lot more out there than you think. I've been dealing for over 40 years and have seen quite a bit of Silver Age age, not only that I've sold, but other dealers back in the 70s, that has never resurfaced.
  6. I remember decades ago when I was selling those ASM #39 pages, for Romita, for like, $60.00 each. The good old days. MI
  7. My wife won't allow me to go without a hazmat suit.
  8. Let me rephrase that. Any major hotel such as The Pennsylvania, which has a long and storied past, that charges $135 a night, well you get what you pay for. MI
  9. "Don Vaughn's" signature and Duffy's are the same.
  10. Who is Don Vaughn? When Duffy Vohland was working for Marvel back in the 70's he said those DV initials on the British covers were his, not some guy named Don Vaughn.
  11. Vodou, You're right on target. In a nutshell, virtually no nostalgic pull with illustration. Couple people I know are looking for specific pieces by children's book artists from book they read as kids. Other than that, it's image and somewhat artist driven. A lot of the illustration art in Heritage auctions are bought by other dealers. The cheaper (under $1000) bought by lower level dealers and collectors. There are still some high end collectors buying the better pieces. MI
  12. I sold 2 dailies for $1600 recently. I'll have a Sunday for sale early next year.
  13. I have found, after 40 years of selling comic art, that most people believe "fresh to market" matters. Those that say otherwise are either lying or trying to get a better price on fresh to market. I also believe that at least15-20 years off market could make it back as fresh to market. 15. I was tempted to bid on the page Borock is flipping. Love Kirby Ant-Man and Giant-Man. There isn't much Marvel or 1970s DC work I like enough to buy for myself. MI
  16. Mark, I have a different page from a different issue on my site. I never had the page that Borock is flipping. MI
  17. Except, you're wrong again about there being any line art for DKR #1. All art by both Miller and Varley, were done on the board you see in the photo. Where do you hear these stories? MI
  18. What in hell are you talking about? Of course it's original art! It's a painting! Gouache and ink and airbrush. How do I know? I sold it. Don't know what you heard about this cover. It's original. The Varley pieces I have are NOT color guides. They are the actual painted blue lines that the book was printed from. They consist of an acetate sheet of the b/w line art laid over a blue line of the b/w line art, which is then painted in gouache and watercolor. Only one of each page exists. And Jim Lee does not own the DKR cover. Mitch Itkowitz Graphic Collectibles
  19. Because, it looks to me, like you're trying to disparage the name of Gil Kane. It's a witch-hunt. Asking and asking and asking for information that no one is going to give. I doubt very highly that Gil ever testified, especially anything having to do with supposedly taking art. But I'm done with this thread. Have a nice evening. MI
  20. There is obviously a deep, dark reason for wanting to know more about the rumors. Whether I'm a Mega Ignoramus or not, no one will give you an answer. That should make your OCD jump off the meter. MI
  21. 1. There is no set list for works that were taken by ANYONE from ANY company. I don't know what was taken, or by whom. NOBODY does. 2. Said art has passed through many, many hands by this point. Makes no difference now whether anyone has any of the supposed stolen art. No one filed a police report, so it's only considered stolen in heresy. 3. Virtually no one will say anything bad about a beloved artist such as Gil Kane, or any other well known, beloved artist. You keep harping on needing that answer. It's not going to be answered with any authority. Is it an OCD thing with you? Leave Gil's legacy as it is. Mitch Itkowitz Graphic Collectibles
  22. I agree with you. But some people obviously have OCD problems and won't rest till they get an answer. MI
