  1. It was nice to get these ones back, with some signature signings coming up in November, it will be likely in the New Year that I will be sending some old comics for blue labels.
  2. Ta da!!!!!!!!!!! I was surprised of the grade the book got, currently hanging on the wall.
  3. It was a good to have these old books signed by the writer himself. :).
  4. Well my submission for some of my books to be signed by Mr. Stanley "Artgerm" Lau came back, close to the schedule format.....now if only my books I sent out for signing by Mr. Chuck Dixon would return as well as small submission of blue slabs would be come back(just over the 8 month status at CCS)
  5. I just hope Mr. George Perez is doing well.
  6. Maybe I'm going blind but surely a series that ran for just over 2 years does not currently have registry? Do I have to make a custom registry then for this beautiful slab? ;)
  7. My biggest regret was I should have taken a few pictures of the damage envelope inside the book, just to show how bent the envelope paper was and it was thicker than your typical comic paper. Hell that type of envelope was also included in my 1st issue of my Superman and that one came back as a 9.6. Oh well it is what it is.
  8. Har har har First 2 orders I got lucky I think cause as of today that third order is still at the received at CCS stage.....
  9. After 5 months, it's nice to have them back into my collection.
  10. As I was going through my vast comic collection to figure out exactly which issues that I had come across his cover art or varient art, I was reminded how DC ended the latest "Supergirl" series, which I guess was the start of me not committing myself to other DC titles. DC would probably blame it on the pandemic but just of it was they had cancelled the latest Supergirl series even before the last 2 issues were to be printed. I think you could read the 2 issues through digital at that time but I'm old, I don't do digital. Eventually they packaged the last 2 issues with a trade paperback consisting of the storyline that had occurred near the end of her run. By then I didn't feel like spending more money than needed to just read 2 issues. I like Mr. Lau's art, and with these books slabbed I can put them on the wall. ;) Gonna be a busy weekend coming up, packing the books, unboxing 2 boxes from CGC and visiting a local comic book fair....maybe come across some books I think I would like to add to my old comic collection. ;)
  11. Actually with the first one shot, the book needs a good press on the front cover and on the back page it has a bent corner as well as a itty bitty tear, along with color break soooo yeah it would be a low-grade, eventually I will slab it with a blue label and not a yellow one. Looking back at how Birds of Prey got off the ground and witnessed their wonderful adventures, I realize it great to be a part of that the stories, the artwork. I don't even glance at today's volume of Birds of Prey cause they are not my jam. I think DC today isn't allowing breathing room for new titles maybe start with one-shots and mini-series to entice the public to want to see further adventures. Instead of just starting a new title like "Wondergirl" and then cancelling it after 7 issues....art was beautiful.
  12. I was sad after finding out that signature signing by Mr. George Perez has been cancelled, it is what it is and then I found out that I get another chance to get Mr. Chuck Dixon to sign some of my old books. The last time he was providing some signature signings, it was around the same time that I had aquired signatures from other writers/artists and thus my wallet was too full to fit Mr. Chuck Dixon... but this year I can fit him in! I would have loved to have him sign the very first one-shot of Birds of Prey cause that got the ball rolling, and I was also there to see other mini-series and one-shots and eventually the start of the first volume of Birds of Prey, the reason I did not include it in the 4 books that I sent down was because there's a small tear/rip on the last page and I'm not ready to see a low-grade on a book like that with a signature. Just a question now is.....when will I see them in slabs? 8 months? 10 months?
  13. I too have no problem with still getting the books get regular pressed and graded with the blue label of Mr. George Perez face, just to have story with book or books.
  14. Today being the 26th, they finally checked in 3 of my George Perez books, Like the notice said, they are opening books that arrived at their shipping department of the week of Jan. 10 which is exactly the week that my books did arrive at their location....... now it's just a matter of when I will see them.....maybe 6 months from now?....
  15. Looking at my titles that I have read over the years.... the only mild interest I have reading in today's comic market are a few short DC series, Wondergirl and that's it. ;( I guess DC made it pretty easy for me to wind down my comic reading. looking at my titles that I have read over the years.... the only mild interest I have reading in today's comic market are a few short DC series, Wondergirl and that's it. ;( I guess DC made it pretty easy for me to wind down my comic reading.
  16. I already have some of my favorite DC books signed by the Legendary Mr. George Perez but I will be sending down 3 more for him sign that is if he is still healthy....I wish to hell I could send more down to support him and his family. If the Canadian dollar was equal to the American dollar it would be a different story. Books I'm sending down, Action Comics #645 which was the first appearance of Maxima, Teen Titans #1(the teenagers that had a young Atom on the team. ) and The Brave and the Bold #4, when else could you see an image of Supergirl riding off with Lobo's bike on the cover????? Soooooo many other DC covers I would have loved to send down but I can't I'm sure that the 3 books will come back less than 9.8 especially the Action Comics book, I read that alot back in the day cause it has a great story and artwork. Also the other books he signed of mine through CGC, he used a black marker.....I was trying to take that into account when I was picking what I wanted him to sign, it's amazing how many covers had alot of black background.... Guess tomorrow being monday, I will be packing them up to ship them off.
  17. Rather than filling up the rest of the box with bubble wrap, sending off 5 more books. As I reread them one last time, I noticed the Action Comics one with the Teen Titans that the "Man of Steel" contest form which also in Superman #1 was somewhat bent and thus was somewhat indenting the pages in front of it soooo will the pressing of the book smooth out the minor indenting? Guess I will find out if not probably come back like a 9.2. I always liked the 1st cover of the mini-series for Supergirl. It reminded me how difficult it was back then to see characters get their own issues outside of Superman, Batman and WonderWoman. Eventually Supergirl did get her own series but 2021 all we have is another mini-series for Supgergirl and the last season of Supergirl on TV......
  18. Before Bolland had done covers for WW, I had only had bought a few early WW books but I pretty much started my WW run when Bolland did some of the covers. I never stopped WW until this year because the cost of comics was getting above the budget I had for reading new comics....
  19. Since the turn around at CGC has been very long, I have not sent any books to them because of it but next week is gonna be October. So if I send them down in October maybe they will get a chance to look at them in December, har har har har. I forgot that my Superman #4 was newstand edition, so I'm curious what Grade I will get outta that one. As for Birds of Prey, I already sent the first 2 issues of the mini-series and got a 9.6 and a 9.8 so I'm curious what grades will be for the last 2. I want to slab the specials and one-shots of Birds of Prey before I begin slabbing the first volume of Birds of Prey. As for Wonder Woman, just dig the artwork and want to preserve the books. I might send a 3rd set of books depends if I have space in my shipping box.
  20. It's been about 7 months since I had any reason to post in this particular journal. This year I have yet to send any further old DC comic books down to get slabbed because my wallet says "NO! NOT YET....maybe by October you can." I could have got Howard Porter to sign some of my newer books he had recently done but the first time I came across his art was actually the JLA reboot back in 1997 and that JLA run was a fun run. What a better way to start slabbing that particular run by getting a couple signatures from him. Next books though must be from the start of my collection, these signatures from various writers and artist became too much of a distraction. I do have to chuckle with this set of slabs, one of them is registered to be the only one slabbed/signed, which is pretty sweet. Also if you squint at the video image you can see where Howard Porter signed.
  21. At the same time that I sent books for Howard Porter to sign, I had sent books for Peter David and Dan Jurgens to sign and they already came back in December and January. I'm getting concerned because at the 8 month stage, the submission list for me on the cgc webpage will be cleared, and I won't even be able to see those books unless the grading process begins. Which means, the only evidence that I will ever have that I sent 3 books for Howard Porter to sign is the screenshot that I took of my submission list..... I just wish, I was given a heads up that his signings were delayed or something or anything!!! Up to this Porter thing, I thought the service was great especially me living in Edmonton Alberta. Now this Porter thing has kinda of turned me off from any further signature signing....I would love to sent more books to be slabbed and graded but I want to get some books back first........ please putta please.
  22. Well...... Today is basically the first week of April....and sadly my Howard Porter books are still at the receiving stage... all those supposedly big signings happened wayyyyy back in October....I already got back my Peter David's and Dan Jurgen's books back and from the slab information, they had signed on Nov. 11 and 12 of 2020......I wonder when Howard Porter was able to sign...
  23. Sure would be nice if my "Howard Porter" signature books would get past received status I won't be sending any more books for signatures until the last set of books jumps that big hurdle...
