  1. Well, CGC had received my book on Jan. 15 of this year and I just received the charge from CCS sooooo now I know that part is being done?!?!?!
  2. Guess it's been a week since anyone has posted any of their spiffy comic covers....
  3. I'm kinda of shocked about their understanding of essential services. A comic book is simply a comic book, I for one don't want anyone dying from virus in result of interacting with society while going to and from the work complex when a lot of people in North America like here in Edmonton, Alberta are being told to STAY HOME......
  4. If someone told me back in the beginning of January that in three months time that my comic book hobby would stop on a dime, I would laugh and laugh and laugh, afterall what are the odds of that ever happening?...…….
  5. LOL.....we will see what the virus says about that! Florida unlike other states were not really paying attention to the virus at the beginning aka Spring break on the beaches!
  6. So with pressing involved it pretty takes 5 months before it even gets scheduled for grading.....is grading comics considered essential service in the States? Cause here in Edmonton Alberta Canada, they pretty much just want essential services running during this pandemic...

Guess they take that spine roll pretty serious cause other than that it looks like a 9.4!
  8. After sending my first set of comics down to states to be pressed and graded....., I'm tempted get my own pressing device, I watched a lot of youtube videos of fellow comic book readers pressing their own comics, and the results are impressive and if they can do that part what can't I? Cause roughly 4 months just to get your comics pressed....seems kinda of long. CGC received mine on Jan. 15....not passed the pressing stage yet.
  9. Wait. what? wouldn't they bill you after they pressed them?
  10. Hmmm so it took just over 3 months for CCS to be billed. they received mine on Jan. 15 and it's March 20.....so another month at CCS???? oy
  11. wait wait copper age? I was going by modern age when you have to send comics for grading, cause anything over 75 was considered modern...my bad again...…
  12. Okay, now I know what this particular thread supposed to represent..... I bought this particular comic for a buck in 87 which goes to show I am old ;( . I would have posted some beautiful interior art of Jerry Ordway but I don't want to bend any pages in the scanner. The story starts on planet apokolips with a minion discovering unconscious Superman in a firepit. Of course the minion wonders how much he can get for selling Superman. ….when Superman comes to, the comic reader gets the impression that he doesn't really know who he is...and he in the end of the comic, Superman is working for Darkseid. This storyline continued onto Action Comics 586 featuring the NEW GODS! Also it was only 75 cents...sigh those were the good old days I tell ya!!!!! I would post that cover but apparently I had not bought the newsstand version of it. Oh well can't win them all.
  13. Outta this small mini-series, I liked this cover the most.
  14. As you can see, new member here, I suppose I should have checked this very very long thread before sending off my first two orders to CGC. I have also checked off the pressing option on the comics, except for one, the other six were made in the late eighties with a few wrinkles here and there but man it's getting to 2 month anniversary and they still haven't passed the pressing stage? I've been looking at youtube videos of comic book fans pressing their own books......the results have been impressive and if they can easily do it maybe I can too....
  15. Having some freetime tonight I was curious how much the first one shot of Birds of Prey was going for cause it inspired hollywood to make somewhat of movie of it 24 years later. and all I got to say wow! I paid $5.50 plus GST when that first one-shot came out in 96...I was thinking of sending it in but....as I was rereading the comic, I discovered a big oops on the last page. It took another one-shot and 2 more mini-series before the concept of "Birds of Prey" to go for a regular series which lasted well over 5 years. Although the last Birds of Prey series, I just could not get into it because Oracle wasn't part of it cause....she reverted to being Batgirl all over again...sigh.... Will I send this one-shot in to get graded?.....eventually but there are others to be done first.
  16. Thanks for the responses. At the moment, I'm still taking "baby steps" at this whole grade thing on my comics that I have bought over the years. Even the thought of selling any of my comics is still way off. My first thought is to start preserve them abit longer especially the ones I have notice are getting to be off-white(made in the late eighties). I consider myself just a reader, I have never in my 34 years of reading comics bought 4 books of the same issue and sell the other three, that will never be my style. The second reason I've started slabbing, is reading current comics are getting up there in price...I started thinking, if I'm gonna spend that much money on today's comics maybe just maybe it's time to use that same money to revest in the 34 years worth of comics that I already have.....which means when do I quit reading today's comics? Maybe at the next DC reboot.
  17. Hello, I was about to put this issue on my packing list last weekend when I saw the biggest boo-boo in the title name, cause afterall you first focus on the art then you look at the rest of the cover. So I decided to put the issue to the side for now and send other title issues before coming back to it and send the complete 4 parter set. I was thinking what the community would grad this issue with the condition that it was in and how the "paper rip" in the title would affect the overall possible Grade. Mini-series was basically Supergirl discovering that Lex was truly evil.... I had scanned the first 3 but you don't see the imperfections. From this experience I realized taking comic-book pictures in my place is terrible cause of the lighting.
  18. I'm leaning towards the Variant Age....that's one big hot mess....
  19. New member here. My opinion, reading current *storyline* comics isn't cheap. Back in the late eighties as a teenager I was looking forward to having a job so that I can buy comics and fast forward to now, I have a job but it's getting to the point that I can't afford to buy today's comics. I found myself thinking if I'm gonna spend a lot of money for only a few current comics then why not start reinvesting a.k.a slabbing the 34 years of comics that I have collected so far. I can remember spending $20 bucks and getting 20 different titles back in the eighties, now you spend $20 bucks, and you are lucky to get 4 different current titles...sigh. What worries me is what the future holds when I stop reading....cause I don't see enough young people behind me picking up the slack when I do "quit" reading comics. Guess you can say I'm a DC fan, no marvel collections here. DC accomplished what they set out to do when they did the Crisis back in 1985, as a teenager I was interested in the fresh take of Superman. Having a summer job during the late eighties, I started reading anything related to Superman and down the road the new takes on Wonderwoman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Justice League, JSA, Special DC events. The only big things I don't have in my collection is runs of Batman, Flash, Aquaman...why have them when they already show up in Justice League. To end this, I decided to post the issue of Superman where he almost died! Imagine all the money I would have saved it he did die in the first issue!
