  1. It seemed pretty obvious that CGC was getting caught up and running extremely fast right before the case change since people were either not subbing or requesting they sit on books until after the change. Doesn't seem possible they would be able to maintain the blistering pace they had there for a few months.
  2. Except for, ya know, this: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics-/63/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=chyna Hard to compare China to Prince. One was a iconic rock star and the other was a retired wrestler?
  3. As you like to say Kyle, do you get all your news from CHU? https://comicsheatingup.net/2016/04/21/one-to-watch-batgirl-40-purple-rain-variant/ Crud - wish I would have seen this last night since I think I've got a high grade copy languishing in my Con boxes.
  4. The Cleveland Con has been one of the few success stories. Go Cleveland!
  5. Yes, but I would look more toward Terror Inc and Slapstick before Foolkiller... No wonder the stack of 50 Slapstick 1s sold out quickly in my mega $1 sales thread. Hopefully there are a couple still floating round. That one might haunt you for awhile. Looking at the current prices it's haunting me now. But since I paid $0.10 a piece for them I'd think the guy who sold them to me is also crying in his beer.
  6. The bold part is the reason dealers are charging so much. WW, from what I've gathered, is an expensive con to set up at regardless of location. $1,100 per booth here in Cleveland. If you price your books at 10% over what you could get on E-Bay then (even factoring E-Bay fees) you would need to sell $6,000 in books before you are getting what you can get on E-Bay and that's assuming you have no other expenses. Its not physically easy to sell at Cons compared to online sales so I can see why people mark their books up 20% over E-Bay but then you have people start walking away with prices that high. Tough market to succeed in. That is 3 days? Is a Friday in Cleveland busy? How much space? Sounds like a lot of money for cleveland, no? It was pretty slow in terms of comic buying on Friday but Saturday and Sunday picked up a bunch. The few bigger dealers I talked to said they did over $12k in sales so they were really happy with the show. I didn't do nearly that well but I still did well enough to consider next year if they move the weekend. $1,100 is definitely much more expensive compared to any other show in the area. I'm doing a fairly large Con in Akron this year and it is only $250 for two days.

Tough market to succeed in. I think this happened at Heroes in 2012 or 2013. Could've been the fact that Stan Lee was there, but prices were aggressive. I heard dealers complain. I couldn't understand it. They were pricing themselves out of business. I view WW as more of a 'pop culture' con anyway. As a dealer, I would bring diverse group of product - probably more pop culture items than comics. That's me speaking as an attendee though. Point is, I think you've got to know your market and clientele base before setting up. 100% agree. I did very well selling $1 books to cover my booth fee and sold the better books to make a profit. The guys who seemed to do the best had TPBs, some of those bobble head things and a good assortment of books. The people across from me who simply had high end graded books never seemed to be busy.

  10. What happens in Man Thing 3? First Foolkiller. Thanks for the heads up - grabbed one for a few bucks just in case.
  11. Yes this is a problem lately at bigger shows. I don't understand the mentality. Its one thing to ask a slightly higher, but its like some dealers just don't want a sell in general they way they price at 2x going rate or such. I saw a NM 87 in NM- raw maybe 2 weeks ago dealer had 280 dollars on it. I didn't even bother to haggle. Guy was crazy. I can't sell my CGC 9.6 for $280.
  12. Isn't that the label Bookery uses? Very nice pick up and you should have grabbed the 9.0 and sold it to me for $18.
  13. It's thru E-Bay right? Just file the claim and move on. People flake out all the time on E-Bay so spend as little time with them as possible. File the claim and put it back up on E-Bay. Easy as pie.
  14. Could work but something about that book (either its the cover or the characters) makes me think it will be a +$100 book in high grade for some time.
  15. Peter Parker 64 CGC 9.8 (and pretty much every copy) keeps climbing. Looks like a Best Offer was accepted for a 9.8 for $550 and a copy finished at $585 on MyComicShop yesterday. The copy on E-Bay is up to $490 with a day and half to go. My starting estimate was $650 so we will see how it ends. Regardless - finding a nice copy for less then $100 seems to be getting much more difficult.
  16. Nearly perfect trailer - didn't give away too much but definitely makes you want to know more about Dr Strange. Based only on this trailer I see this movie as a can't miss.
  17. I wonder why #100 is not going up in value? Could be the million variant covers are confusing buyers and diluting the market for them.
  18. Wow - that didn't take long.
  19. Nice I swear the grades on the new slabs look photo shopped
  20. Then you need to go squeeze some out. The gold digger books of course. Really though, if you think you have them you'd better go get them. Now. Or I will tell Janet! Although it may be possible that the bidders were the only ones this crazy for this lot and now that one bidder won and has been satisfied the load you have may not make as much of a splash. There is definitely a second person willing to pay a bit less.
  21. I don't doubt it. Everyone else is grabbing X-Men 244s and you are grabbing some stuff I've never even heard of before. It's a gamble but it definitely will have a hell of a payday if it hits.
  22. I would be amazed if I didn't have some of these I saw the set and knew I had never seen it before but thought "bet Hector has a couple sets".
  23. Holy - that looks awesome and downright frightening all at once.
