The date of the moy sale is way wrong.

I’ve noticed when looking at sold prices on Comic Art Tracker, it converts dates to Jan 1 of the current year once you scroll down the list a bit. I’m guessing some sort of data was pulled once those sales finalized, thereby creating a default date? I know Albert didn’t sell that splash for $1500 anytime recently. 😁

I'm amazed at what people are selling. I mean, really, for silly, stupid money?

I don't get it (and I'm not being sarcastic).

If you're in need money that bad (it happens), pick up extra hours or add a third job on the weekends? Seriously.

Things are being sold that should never be sold. Ever.

    Shhhhh 🤫

Don’t interrupt the competition while they’re making a mistake.

Great stuff! Thank you, Felix. I wonder how strong that ripple effect will be? I’m not selling any more SW pages, but I am curious. Man, this market is like a conundrum wrapped in a riddle. :shy:

Thanks!  This is where I grabbed the image for my posting.  😃

I know Romita did some work for the series, on merchandising and promo posters (even some reworks and finishes on at least one Secret Wars Layton page), but I haven’t found it yet on the pieces I have, and I’m nearly complete with all the toys and merchandise. If it’s Secret Wars, I’d guess it’s either for a poster, or a store merchandise display. I have two displays, one the large top display, and a thin shelf front display, and one does have Romita work, imo, but not this image. I’m not sure if he drew any of the shield winky images, that could be another possibility, I think. If I see it as I go through the toys and kid’s stuff, I’ll update. Good luck!

Off the top of my head, the Horror page is, I think, from 'Graft in Concrete'?  Penultimate panel, before CK's closing comment, looks like a paste-over.  Any art underneath . . . or is it too well-attached to investigate?

You are correct, sir. Nice one! And funny you should ask, but yes, there is art underneath. When I bought it, the seller informed me that it had been detached, but saved. The powers that be preferred the close-up shot, but I think I actually prefer the original.885B7EB3-598F-4F71-97BC-CE4BFAB3CE06.thumb.jpeg.c7629320b772bac1d40906de0d1c295c.jpeg

  6. I have two EC pages. The first was from Mad comics, before it became a magazine to escape the comic code. This is the last page of The Countynental by Jack Davis. I loved how he’d draw bits and pieces falling off of his odder characters as they burst into scenes.

The next page is from Vault of Horror, and is the exact opposite feel of the Mad page. Shambolic zombies and horrified expressions replace Davis’ great sense of humor. Could any artist switch between humor and horror with such facile ease?

I have not read those Thor issues by Frenz and Sinnott but I have to admit the art looks great. Are the stories any good? Any particular issues worth tracking  down ?

I was a big fan of his whole run. Lots of Negative Zone, Wrecking Crew, Kirby style myth and sci-fi. The arc I’m posting was a fun one with Odin, the Negative Zone, High Evolutionary, and Ego. It’s hard to go wrong.

I while back I executed a large purge, keeping only my core interests. I intended to sell my Frenz Thor page, but the only data I could find ( I’m admittedly not a good finder of OA data) had pages like mine going for a couple hundred.

Glad I decided to keep it.

Good choice. 😁👍🏼 I’m definitely a hold on those kinds of A pages. I have one other page that leads to yours (and the one I got was an arc lead-in to mine). It’s all great art, and in-keeping with the Kirby Thor style of storytelling.

I like that this is turning into a Frenz appreciation thread. Here’s my other page, too.

Well if the two splashes and two panel pages sold within literal seconds, and then the cover also sold very fast, then we know high level examples like those are maybe being sold at least 25% too cheap? Maybe I'm being too conservative in that estimate.

I’m no expert, but I’d agree with that. Maybe even a smidge more? These were all really high quality, though, so there is an “omgomgomg” factor, too, imo. It might have sold just as quickly with another grand on top.

I don’t want to sell it and have never wanted to sell it nor is it advertised on CAF as being for sale, but the collector who reached out to me to ask me to sell it acted shocked that Frenz covers or any kind would sell as high as the price that had been offered to me. If I would ever consider selling it, it would take a huge amount of cash (again, it’s NFS), an amount so large that makes it unattainable which was my point, so I wouldn’t even take triple what the other cover sold for.

100% understood. I would just say no, and leave it at that. In this market, someone might say “ok,” and then the crying sale begins…

I wouldn’t even entertain crazy prices if I owned that one.

Recently, I had a guy ask me to sell him my Thor #385 cover by Frenz (link above) and I told him it was not for sale but I’ll sell just about anything for the right price. I let him know that price would be very high. I also told him the amount of the last offer I’d turned down, which was pretty aggressive by the collector - just to let him know it would take a crazy-high amount to pry it from my collection. He sent me a reply that said he was surprised that Frenz covers were selling so high and that he wouldn’t offer anywhere near that for it. So, if prices were that high on these pages in the Catskill art drop, the amount it would take to get my Frenz cover from me just doubled. (It really isn’t for sale except for crazy-CRAZY-high money because I really do like the cover a lot.)

Another awesome Frenz cover. If it was priced like the one Twanj posted, I’d imagine it would go quickly, too.

Based on that cover sale from PPA, and how quickly these great pages sold, if the general “formula” of a cover being worth 2x A splashes, and a great splash being worth 2 A pages (found it in a thread here while searching how to price), then the art drop was priced to sell quickly, imo. I certainly have no qualms about how much I paid. The FF in action, negative zone, Baxter building, a Yancy Street mention, and great, full-body Thor, Frenz/Sinnott? I pounced. The other two were sold while I was thinking for a second.

    Wow those are great pages!

I had no idea there were more on sale a week later & I try to pay attention to the Frenz stuff.

Yeah, I was able to decide really quickly. Scott Kress actually described them as:

    ”Catskill Comics:
Frenz & Sinnott Thor Art Drop Tues. Aug 17th @ 12pm EST with new Frenz & Sinnott Thor interior pages. These are pages a lot of people have been asking for including 2 splash pages.”

So, it sounds like this drop was based on popular requests, and the kind Mr Frenz relenting.
