  1. Cool book covers...this one's my favorite!
  2. Pssst....can we see the Gorgos & Kongas you picked up?
  3. Nice GORGILLA cover!!! Gorgilla is one of those EXTRA-special fantasy stories drawn by Kirby and inked by Ditko. Wonderful stuff!
  4. Now WHY didnt this one skyrocket in price when SPIDER-MAN 3 came out??? Not enough propaganda is being ballied about with regards to Pre-hero prototypes!!!
  5. I love these Silver-Age Good Girl covers...Although tame compared to some of the pre-code covers, I wonder how some of those SHOWGIRL covers made it past the CCA of the early 60's...
  6. The #75 is a great book...the cover is about the closest thing to a wash-tone in the pre-hero run...Oh, it also has a cool Iron Man prototype as well.
  7. Hmm. Well it could be a date: 6/29. I dont know what the "P" stands for though.."P"aper delivery maybe? It would be interesting to see similar markings on other pre-heros...they all probably came from the same collection.
  8. Mud monsters, eh? I dont know if I'm off my "Robots on a Rampage" kick...but, no matter: There were certianly no shortage of muck monsters in the pre-hero Monster universe:
  9. Hmmm... Interesting idea. POST YER PRE-HERO ROBOT COVERS!
  10. How dare this thread drop to the second page...cant have THAT!!! Here is one of my favorite robot-on-a-rampage covers...Enjoy!
  11. Can't wait to see those show up in one of your sales threads!!! Wonderful art by Murphy Anderson in those issues. Nice!
  12. "Gentlemen, you cant fight in here...its the WAR THREAD!"
  13. That's easy..just suck out the red and the purple label will turn blue!
  14. My own humble copies... These books are not #1's and dont get as much fanfare as the first issues of TOS & TTA, but they are the first pre-hero issues in those titles run: ...and a couple of #1 issues that just don't get enough respect:
  15. Nice TOS #1 -- but get it out of that ugly plastic case...Ick. Hey, why the slabbing? You are not planning on selling, are you?
  16. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??? Mocking a Kirby pre-hero cover...For shame, for shame... If you notice, the big guy's hands appear to be on backwards as well... Now I will have to dig this one out of the vault to see what REALLY happens in the story!
  17. Here are a couple of my favorite GL covers... Ist app Sinstero. Fantastic Wash-tone cover!
  18. You're right about the 82 being nice. The 80 is an odd one... You mean the cover? I kind of like it. The Ditko story is really good. One of his best!
  19. Nice copy John! The last few pre-hero issues of JIM had some really cool covers. My favorite of these last issues is the #82 - I am just a sucker for all that super-high-tech machinery. Maybe Jack had some leftover backgrounds for the Prof's lab during his run on the Challengers!
  20. My favorite THOR issue...1st Tales of Asgard - best backup feature of the Silver Age!
  21. Hi Everyone...thank you for all the thumbs up (thumbs u and your patience. Enjoy! Wonderful book! (thumbs u GL's origin is by far, my favorite of the Silver Age. This story has everything...a fearless jet pilot, his pretty lady boss, and the incredible Abin Sur...glactic policeman of Sector 2814... It's such a pleasure to see a clean copy (no offense to everyone else in the club!). Congratulations. I agree that GL's origin is a great one. Very creative. A few days ago I reread 22 and 23, and what struck me most was how much emphasis there was on the romantic tension between Hal and Carol. There's the storyline of Carol refusing to date Hal because she suddenly becomes his boss, but there's also the storyline that she starts falling for Green Lantern. The romance really dominates the stories. Another note: there's a great scene in 22 where GL bursts in on some bad guys and they react by saying "It's not a not a bird, it's not a plane, and it's sure not Superman!" Very unusual for DC to show that kind of humor. That the genius of author John Broome -- master science fiction writer. If you like those early GL stories, you have got to check out some of Mr Broome's stuff in 50s titles like STRANGE ADVENTURES and MYSTERY IN SPACE...you wont be disappointed! Bill
