PGM ASM #4 - 1st Sandman (UK Price Variant)
The lips replied to Deutero's topic in Hey buddy, can you spare a grade?
Looks a great copy. I’m a little jealous ! 4 from me. -
Absolutely offer your opening bid or what you feel right. If not accepted I’m sure it’ll just re-list anyway
-
Fully agree. Unfortunately I’m going through a messy divorce at the moment after what I thought was a good marriage. Today the postman dropped off a couple of silver age Spideys and the world was a great place again !
-
I think what you did was a very wise thing. For me personally, I only buy raw and at a slightly lower grade as I love owning what I consider timeless and artistic artefact’s I can both afford and read. If youve made a profit yet still own then win win in my book.

I’m 43 also and just got back into it last year after a long time away. The itch never leaves you and even if I took another hiatus, I’d only be drawn back in again at some point. I’m going to always stay in now but some years will definitely be more expensive than others !

I love 50. one of THE most iconic covers and first appearance of a great character in Kingpin However….it has to be 3. it’s the first appearance of an all time classic villain in Doc Ock. Legendary issue and character.

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
The lips replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
You’ve done the hard part and own the most expensive books in your mission so best of luck in completing. The end is in sight ! -
Looking to purchase one of these and just wondering peoples thoughts on what’s your favourite issue ? Yeah I know it’s an iconic 2 part story but if you could only have one issue what would it be ? Not just talking value ! I know 121 is valued higher but for me I prefer the cover art on 122 just curious to hear peoples thoughts ? footnote - I will buy both this year !

Considering selling my Detective Comics # 1 8.5
The lips replied to intlnews's topic in Comics General
You have a collection there that a lot of people would swop a limb for just one never mind all !! as people have said and I agree, the prices aren’t going to go down, just increase at different paces. Time goes quickly and another say 2 years could maybe get you even more. I suppose only you knows the circumstances on your potential sales reasons. good luck with whatever you chose to do. -
Yeah I’d maybe think about just buying what you really love that’s not out of your price range. ive come to terms with the fact I won’t be able to afford the keys I’d love so I’m happy just buying within my price range with the occasional treat. I’m not spending more than £300 / $400 on a book and I’m comfortable with that.

One of THE very best JR covers and I think that copy of yours may be the best condition I’ve seen one in. Beautiful. -
Major ASM keys currently out of reach for me so I’m buying into ASM 17, 121,121
-
Yeah I’d like to own a book that had belonged to somebody like that. It’s a cool story to tell.

Is there honestly any long term value in modern (post 2010) comics?
The lips replied to KCode98's topic in Comics General
I buy moderns as I still like to read new stuff and I love some of the modern artwork. I don’t really think of them as an investment like I used to do. -
Thanks and yeah that’s exactly my thinking. To me, it’s not about the value of the book it’s about personally owning what I think is a little piece of history in our comic book world. To have it in my collection brings me a hell of a lot of satisfaction. I’m planning and hoping on acquiring another 3 to 4 keys this year and they’ll be around the 2.5-4 grade..unless I strike good !!
-
Thanks yeah in a quest to complete as much of the ASM run I’m having to buy around the 2-3 grade. As long as it’s complete and looks decent then I’ll buy. im delighted to now own this book in its current condition. Thanks again.

Hi all, just bought this personal grail. I’m not in a position to buy blue chip keys or higher grades but I’m delighted to own thus iconic book. I know it’s a bit rough but curious to get peoples thoughts ? Thanks.
