  1. I agree 100% One book is not a collection
  2. Relevance and society endorsement are two very seperate entities imo.
  3. I suppose I’m the same as many of f the other replies. firstly I love owning and expanding a collection of physical items, in my case it’s comic books and vinyl records. There’s something in me that is immensely proud of my collection. I love the historical aspect of it that something created decades ago is still as relevant now as it was then. A great story, wether it’s told via the medium of comic or song is an incredibly powerful thing. Humans have been doing it since day 1 for a reason. I’ve a urge to make my collection better and own more than I currently do. escapism and nostalgia.
  4. Amazing Spider-Man vol 1 obvious, but it’s the best. My reasons are no doubt the same as the many millions who likewise idolise it.
  5. Raw, don’t own any slabs. I like to read my comic books the way they were intended to be.
  6. Winner. absolutely love it. I’m a big fan of the wooden boxes.
  7. In my opinion and experience, starting a bidding at .99 always ends up going for more than a BIN price
  8. 6 month ago it’d break record…. now though, with prices slightly decreasing and date I say it the lockdown interest declining, I’m thinking it’ll do well to break the 3 million and I certainly can’t see it beating AC1
  9. I’m in the camp of low grade is better than no grade. There’s books out there I’ve had to buy in say a 3 but of course id prefer a 6. To me, the golden rule is and has always been collect the books you really want but only at a price you’re comfortable with.
  10. Good question and something I struggle with. As a newly ‘reborn’ collector I’ll never be fully content as I’ll never own the big keys or complete the run of ASM 1-375 I’m working on. My contentment comes buying from shelf and owning lower level keys ie ASM 300 and 361 and picking up likes of ASM 50, 238 etc.
  11. Easy regarding the civil war, everybody knows it was the Cavaliers v the Roundheads….
  12. Forget the grade or wether to press or not, you own a piece of iconic history that a lot of us never will enjoy that
  13. Forget the Beatles, Reed and the gang are the true Fab Four. The greatest book Marvel ever put out……after ASM of course.
  14. That’s just showing off !! seeiousky though, that’s a great collection buddy
  15. That ASM 62 was the first Romita cover I bought. It’s a stone wall classic imo.
  16. Wise words sir. Very few people know how much I’m into comics never mind what I own. Thsnkfully , for now ( and things can change quickly ) I’m ok so no need to sell, but if / when the time comes I’d happily part with some. Basically family before my collection.
  17. With the first 100 issues of ASM a lot depends on what grade you’re buying into. Strictly for financial reasons I’m buying raw copies around the 4-6 grade so it’s not too bad. yes the early keys are way expensive but bargain hunting is fun. ive completed run from 200-375 and I’m 26% ( to be exact ) done on 1-100.
  18. I’d say 5 maybe 5.5. it’s definitely though one of the better looking ones I’ve seen recently. Great looking shine and very few spine tics unlike a lot of copies you see.
