When my eldest left for college, I was talking with the wife of a golfing buddy. She went on and on about how sad I must be that she was gone. I explained that the opposite was true - this was a moment I'd been preparing her for over 18 years. The fact that she could leave, could go halfway across the country to a place where she didn't know a single person and try to build something by herself for four years was, in my mind, a huge validation for my parenting. "This is what all this was for," is what I told this woman.

Does this book have original content, or is it reprints of the newspaper strips?

That's a great story! I'm sure the consignor thought it wasn't worth anything due to the missing wrap. Just goes to show, it's worth it to just show up.

I'll be interested to hear how you do. 50 pounds of comic books - who'dve thunk it?

Honestly, I don't see how this journal can possibly be improved upon with further posts.

Few things more entertaining than an "FBI Deputy Director" that doesn't have a .gov email address. I like the money picture idea. Would also be fun to ask for a face-to-face meeting so you can deliver the required forms in person at his office in the Hoover building since, you know, you're going to be in DC next week anyway.

I have multiple copies of 70s books such as The Eternals and Howard the Duck and ASM 361/362, purchased off the stands during brief but seemingly well-timed "speculative phases" in my collecting efforts. I've also ended up with 2 or 3 copies of numerous Fantastic Four's between 234 and 388 but most of those were free.
I agree with the Prof - if you like 'em it's not "wrong" to buy them, no matter how many copies you might have.

I wish people had such a good grasp of what's actually important.
