  1. ....or cash out some big books for some OA ... that's what I've done, that OA bug bit hard. Still have some sweet books left, but definitely have parted with some big ones as well for "trades"
  2. Gotta say though, damn spectacular presenting book !!
  3. and the dude that got the $450K is sipping drinks in Maldives
  4. I'm looking for Schomburg paintings ...... very rare and almost never come up for sale
  5. John Peel !!! I'd love to sit back with some headphones and pass the hours listening to legends !!
  6. Rom one of my very first comic book loves when I was about 11 years old …. Spidey being the other around the same time ( 1979ish) just got back into collecting about 20 years ago and completed what my early teen self could have never afforded 😂 I more than dabble in non superhero - non comic book - stuff vintage hockey cards and hockey collectibles ( signed and game-used items) music memorabilia, vintage concert posters, concert ticket stubs, and vintage Vinyl LP’s F1 racing memorabilia
  7. Current runs: AF15, ASM 1- ( whatever it’s at today) plus annuals and all early cross-overs FF 1-100 ROM full run plus annuals Past runs, most of which are still relatively intact: Superman 1-20 Action 1-100 ( Supes covers only) Batman 1-20 Detective 27-37 ( Batman covers only)
  8. Wow!!! Love to sit in a room with your long boxes, hours of fun yeah, the rabbit hole that is GA is scary, but sooo rewarding
  9. Here’s my 3 all together getting along nicely
  10. My goto venues in the early 2000's (when I started getting VERY serious with my collection) were Metro, eBay, Harley, boardies like Rick and Ben, and one golden age (rip-off!!) shop in Toronto that will remain unnamed................and all purchases were raw ...... the auction houses certainly changed the game about 10ish years ago
  11. And a fellow Canuck as well ! (you better be a Leaf fan, or I take it all back ). And your comments about the "stigma" of comic collecting ... I so hear you and I'm still in the closet for the most part.
  12. and congrats to you, I believe you were involved in the process for this sale
  13. I always bought what I liked or was passionate about, and lots of those would be "rookie cards" of my favourite players or "1st appearances" of my favourite characters. If that is Wayne Gretzky and Spider-Man, then I guess I'm lucky financially now years later, but if it's ROM then that is a bit of a bust financially. But I love them all equally.......
  14. I have no problem imaging a comic-book lover who happens to have multi-millions
  15. It’s that last point that seems to be so true. 10 years ago those who were buying up the right keys, for high dollars at the time, likely had folks scratching their heads in wonderment (like my wife is currently). The passage of time shows them to be way ahead. No one knows what the future holds, of course, but the long term play is solid in my opinion. These two comments are right on the money! Stop complaining, buy what you want/can/love (supply and demand will always rule) and enjoy the hobby ! I have no sympathy for quick flippers.
  16. Wow!!!! Congrats ..... I know it must be difficult to know "when" to sell, as the upwards $$ trends seemingly never end But a million+ is a million+
  17. walkthru - that's why congrats, great story! Hopefully win - win for both parties !
  18. but how do we know for sure it went for the $100K ? Does that site allow offers ?
