  1. Joined eBay about 2003, mainly to try and get back into collecting a Spider-man run. I remember a haul of like 400 books from about #101 to #500 with all keys there for $600 Cdn. Crazy. I eventually got the whole run completed, thanks eBay for the head start! I remember the ASM#1 around same time for $1999 Cdn, it graded to an o/w 6.5 - still have it. I also remember an AF#15 that I got for about $4K Cdn and another for $3K, and they ended up grading as a 3.0 and 2.5 tan to o/w and o/w to w respectively -- sold the 3.0 three months ago for a lot more....still have the 2.5. When I started into GA soon after this, it was a LCS and Metro that I turned to only ........... can't remember why I wouldn't have stuck with eBay, but might have had something to do with the one time I was fleeced for $1500 by an eBay crook for some book, stupidly sent a bank transfer and was ghosted immediately afterwards. Any one out there with other early eBay horror stories of stupidity ?
  2. ...and you and I could NOT be friends ( no Rush, no happy)
  3. read this (ibook) 6 months ago based on a recommendation here (probably you R-Man!), it is incredible !! I own several dozen 78's, but the ones talked about in this book are off-the-chart insane !!
  4. Spidey all day every day. My #1 all-time fave, he's my ground floor for entering comics when I was 11 years old, watched the Tv show religiously. X-men who ? ( I do have two AF#15's, two ASM#1's and one X-Men #1, love them all)
  5. I'd venture to say that the more you do not touch, use, play with an item, the more you are a collector of said item
  6. Hey Congrats !!! If that's the price on GPA, then it is a total steal for a 5.0 !!!! so there is some interior tape, it is OW-White! And just a few days ago, another 5.0 apparently sold for $100K .......... I have a 5.0 ow/w with no marvel chipping and no tape, and I would want closer to 100K then closer to 40K for it if I were to sell (and I would never sell)
  7. Can't remember an exact book, but certainly it would have either been ROM#1 or an ASM from that era (around issue#175-180) ...... I would have been about 11 years old
  8. using multiple sources is absolutely ESSENTIAL to get a handle on values
  9. 2/17/2022 CLink Detective 27 , 7.0, A5, white pages $293.000
  10. I'm losing sleep just thinking about answering this question ..... you all would actually lose sleep as well if I listed everything
  11. yup ....put in time and get educated , then it's tough to either pay too much if buying or accept too little if selling

  13. calling Roy, calling Roy! I know he checked out of this thread a while ago (for good reason), but how about a quick "told ya' so" ......
  14. that's what I would have thought, but their sight indicates the $575 is before the 15% ...... but it could be an error ......
  15. Oh My ................................... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Firstly, the $575 sale is before 15% buyers fee added - so it's like a $660 sale. With restored keys, the difference between 9.4 and 8.5 (given all else the same) is not that much price wise. The 8.5 is an A3 (more desirable than an A5), but the trimming will subsequently bring it down. Sooooo, at the end of the day, my guess would be around 400K minimum. If it wasn't trimmed, I could easily see it up there with the 9.4 sale.
  17. hey, dude is fishing, that's all...... god bless him if he gets a bite [BTW: Fishbone don't fish]
  18. Did you speak with Harley, I'm sure he would have been more than accommodating ...... my experiences anyway
