  1. The Thrilling #7 and Wonderworld #4 are tough books. I would have jumped all over those but I have copies. The WW is a very much underappreciated Lou Fine cover, imo. The detail on the horses is exquisite. Great pickup, Jim and someone should steal that Thrilling. Some really nice books here, Sha.
  2. If you're asking me about the bargain price, I have no idea whatsoever. I don't collect Actions or DCs at all so I have no clue. I know it is a desirable book but one for my interests.
  3. Yeah I am watching this auction - Philip Weiss' (now run through his wife and family as he has passed). That Action 7 sold for $17,000 (w/o juice). It is listed as: Important Issue with restoration. Tan Pages. Apparent VG+. Rice paper restoration along the interior spine covers, and spine of pages. They are usually fairly accurate on their grading in my experience.
  4. And presenting from DC, the original family-friendly comic publisher, The Codpiece
  5. On my highly doubtful radar of actually being completed but the appeal of Stan "The Man" never wanes...
  6. That's George - JiveTurkeyMoFo https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/profile/906-jiveturkeymofo/ Long-time member and one I trust and have bought from numerous times.
  7. You're better off not giving them your money. Throw some comments on their FB page if they have one or Yelp and such. Just think of it as you saved some money to spent elsewhere.
  8. The law after criminals to criminals after the law
  9. Yeah, like Tyler said above, I didn't think the tape would make it restored but maybe it is conserved now (I still am unclear on the newer tape grading standards and perhaps it is archival tape which may make a difference). Just step up and go after the 3.0 in CC's auction (note it has tape as well but on interior cover so different than your example. It is a great book/cover and I'm not a DC guy at all.
  10. Fun read Sha. Thx for taking the time to photo and post. I always thought the first incarnation of Mr M looked like Don Rickles.
  11. The gloss on the Fantastic 3 is stunning. This cover and National 7 were the two that I fell in love with when I discovered Lou Fine along with his Ray and Black Condor stories reprinted by Alan Light. I wish I had the foresight back then to buy copies of these books back then. Some other covers like Wonderworld 4 and Hit 5 were a couple of others. Oh yeah, I didn't have any money - glad there was a reason But at least I have managed to acquire National 7, Wonderworld 4, and Hit 5 but the Fantastic 3 will likely forever elude me - too few of them and my wallet is too lean
  12. With his wing span, I thought he could just spin fast enough and take flight without any mechanical contrivance.
  13. Yep - I had posted the exact same thing in an earlier question. Would love to have this back.
  14. The old format showed the join date below the avatar (or in that area). This was handy especially in the buy and sale venue. Post counts are somewhat meaningless as someone can ramp up that number fairly easily. With name changes, it is hard to track who everyone is and to save the trouble of looking at the user profile to see how long they have been around, it would be nice to see that date on the post itself in case the user name is not recognized easily. I tend to be a lot more comfortable buying from longer established members.
  15. I thought he also had and posted several Cheslers and Harveys but it has been a while so my memory may be off.
  16. From little girl in trouble to little girl in trouble being saved
  17. Ghost variant. By the way, there are counterfeits of this book. You can tell a fake if the back cover looks like this:
  18. Yep, post away. I am a serial fanatic. Have a ton of 60s and 70s fanzines on the serials plus many hardcovers. Although worthless, I also have a collection of countless serials I bought on VHS. And a small smattering of lobby cards as well. Throw out some Buster Crabbe, Tom Tyler, Bela Lugosi... By the way I picked a copy of A Job for Superman by Kirk Alyn. The copy is signed by Alyn - don't have a scan of mine but for those who have not seen the book - here is a pic of the front cover.
