He blasted some new guy in the for sale section and before I could restrain him JC popped his bonds and made a real JC out of himself. Sigh... and my color commentary was disallowed. Thats my guess. Unfortunately the guy had some pretty cool books.

 

Was that the guy with the golden age books for sale? Hopefully he wasn't chased off, as he had some nice titles. I saw the beginning of the thread, what happended after?

 

Anyone have the answer to my questions? I don't want them to get buried. I was thinking about making offers on some of that guy's books...

JCs has his faults, as every person on this planet does. His is just amplified many times over based on his attitude and posting style, which is not in my eyes not really directed towards anyone on the boards but seems to be more reflective of how he feels himself...externalizing his internal anguish.

 

Stay tuned for more diabolical dialogue on Dr. Phil...

Well, all I know is there is a lot of talk of how great he says his collection is, and I haven't seen book one...this is a venue for collectors to share interests, right? And most claims by JC on "attacks" are simply folks tired of his BS when they get nailed by one or more of his verbal volleys. IMHO.

 

Purely as an exercise in keeping the record straight, not in an attempt to defend him (:sick:) but I believe JC has claimed to be against posting books because of the atmosphere of slavish worship of uber-high grades it creates, along with “Mine is bigger than yours” fanboy mentality. I'm paraphrasing. Whether it's the truth or not it is a conceivably valid reason.

 

Regardless (I don’t care what Oxford E. says :sumo: ) of his rationale, he has purchased books from board members, and made dozens of posts of Marvel house ads in a great thread of the same. I’d imagine they were mid/low-grade copies to have the interiors placed on a scanner, but he obviously has some sort of collection.

That's fine, but what is the concept of a "VCC elite"...totally in the dark on this.

It's just JC's way of getting out of proving he is some super well to do stud comic collector.

He blames the "VCC elite"(FD,banner among others) for attacking him and therefore forcing him not to spend many thousands of dollars at the VCC.

 

Hey now, I did no attacking.

 

The "VCC Elite" is something that, quite frankly, I simply don't understand. There is no such thing. Sckao and I have been very clear from the beginning of the VCC that we want it to be completely inclusive - more the merrier - and there's no preferential treatment given to anybody, outside of me getting the first "booth" as payment for running the damned thing.

Yes I know I was just adding a little detail for Sterling. No one actually attacked him he was just questioned about his apparent violation of VCC rules and got riled up.

i think VCC Elite was a tongue-in-cheek comment. joe_c either hasn't realised or doesn't care that his normal bilious tone completely eliminates any chance of sarcasm or facetiousness from being read properly

i suspect the strike with no warning is because J_C KNEW about this policy and still made the statements he made...

OK, so Vince takes his ball and goes home b/c heaven forbid should he receive what he dishes out? My wife always say : "It's not what you say, but how you say it." Smart she is. Married her I did.

 

If I may be so bold to say something about Vince and his 'devotees'.

I think he is no doubt an intelligent man who has an opinion about everything.

He also has a particularly caustic turn of phrase, unnecessarily spewing vitriol whenever the mood takes him.

Picking on new people is in my view bang out of order. That sort of response could deter people who would be welcome additions to these boards.

I believe certain people here are in all honesty a bit scared of 'tangling' with him, and are quite sycophantic at times toward him.

In my view he blows his own trumpet far too much, has delusions of grandure, and I honestly believe is a bit of a BS merchant.

That surprises me, and if true is a shame.

People have nice books and show them off...so what?

He should be proud of the books he has.

I would have thought he of all people would'nt give a mess what others think.

I myself have varying grades of stuff, but a lot of low grade stuff which I'm not afraid to share.

Perhaps he's a sensitive soul on the quiet... hm

Sal hit the nail on the head. JC's too smart to not know he was walking on thin ice, yet kept on walking for whatever the reason. Perhaps he thought he was making a point, perhaps he just couldn't help himself.

 

Either way, I could honestly care less.

I can take him or leave him most of the time. But I was curious why this wasn't a ban until I looked. 3 strikes in the last 4 months and 1 prior was in August 2006. Hard to tell whether he'll make it almost a year without another strike = perma ban. :popcorn:

Dunno October, he had a huge grocery list that I didn't even get to look at. Screw the rules is my opinion, the "seller" was fishing his wares and then because there were no prices JC comes like Enemy Ace(Hammer of Hell) and was very venomous towards said individual who probably wont come back.
