What the heck, great time to post my copy again. Only 2 on census, the HA sale could bring more out, but this one was the last one i needed (toughest) to complete the Quality run of covers. 13 in all by my count. I have since broken them up (save for 5 including this one) to acquire categories higher on my focus list

Way to much dialog! Every picture tells a story!

Real Baker collectors do NOT sell their favorite classic Baker's...no matter how much they go up in value...hm   For some of us who spent years trying to find these issues in the 1990s and early 2000s, it's not how much they are worth, it's the fact that we actually got a copy...and THEY AIN'T GOIN' NOWHERE!  :sumo:

There were definitely some impressive sales in the Baker auction, but many sold far less than I had expected.  Many Baker romance that I would consider pretty scarce hammered for 50% or even less than my anticipated price.  So we may look back and marvel at some of the record-breaking sales (Seven Seas 6 2.0), but others may realize that there were plenty of good bargains to be had on hard to find Bakers.

If we were to post-mortem some of the results, I would say that the comics which exploded in price were the perceived iconic covers that appealed to the mainstream comic book collector as well as the avid Baker collector which drove more competition.  The less iconic but equally scarce Bakers just didn't have that demand from the investor collector and thus stayed relatively affordable with a few exceptions.    Either way, it was a fantastic auction and amazing to see so many Bakers.  Congrats to Rick and Heritage for a great event!

I was very surprised and disappointed at the result of the 5.0 Nightmare #13 at only $900.  To me, that's as classic a cover as the Amazing ghost Stories that went for $18,000...:whatthe:  I think the winner got a real bargain on that Nightmare...

I always like to take a peak at ebay right after HA or other auctions with insane results like this to see if people go scoop things up right away, as sort of a quick measure of whether people believe these new prices will hold.  We'll see where this Seven Seas 5 cgc 7.5 ends up...no one biting at the HA 4.5 price yet.  I guess this No one rushing to grab this 'bargain' 4k AGS 14 4.5, granted it's a PGX.

A 3.0 AGS 14 listed by MCS on eBay for $2900 was delisted today, perhaps someone bought it via MCS' website. I did submit a best offer on the 4.5 PGX and I just accepted the counter-offer from seller. Little bit of a gamble with the PGX label but I've been looking for a copy with better color strike (my low-grade copy has a purple-hued background). Not sure what the white abrasion is around the dude's right fist is but the book still has good eye appeal.
