Wasn't there one that came with the Spawn figures different from the original comic?

There were comics with the early Spawn figures, but they had original stories in them.

 

As far as I know, there are just the 6 North American versions of #1 out there.

I actually dumped all my Spawn books back aroun 1999 and wouldn't mind possibly getting back into this club just because I hate being in the minority.

Isnt definitive.... but wikipedia says...

 

Upon release, Spawn #1 sold 1.7 million copies, still a record for an independent comic book.

That number has been mentioned a few times on here, so sounds right. But no matter how overproduced it may be, I still love that #1 cover.

This is not a direct quote, but I was at a convention in Tulsa, OK in the mid 90s and overheard McFarlane say something like "I didn't know how Spawn #1 is ever going to be worth anything. I still have a warehouse full of them."

 

So, the number sold and the number printed may not be the same...

That could also mean that somewhere there is still a warehouse full of 9.8s.
