I've been a Marvel and DC guy for five decades now, but starting in the '70s did pick up some undergrounds that were thoroughly enjoyable and different reads.  While I don't have anything truly exotic and rare, there are a few uncommon books among my collection of about 150.  I've finally gotten around to scanning them, in preparation for selling after having already purged nearly all of the comics from the major publishers.

I'll continue to use the Boards for the initial launch to market, like I have for much of the rest of my unslabbed collection.  But first I've got about 50 more books to scan and the entire collection to price, so it won't be this week.  :wink:

It's certainly Deitch but whether and where it was published, I'm unsure. Kemp published a lot of adult books that he may have used original illustrations in, but he also just lifted UG material wholesale, probably unauthorized, to use in his publications. I have many Greenleaf books that have sections on porn in comics and usually there are 'litts' to be found within. Perhaps he commissioned Deitch for an illustration, along with Osborne, Wilson, Trina and others, if you look at the completed auctions from the seller who says he's Earl's son. I may have to check my copy of the Illustrated Report the son also attempts to sell. it's been awhile since I cracked it open, but I'm pretty sure there are UG illos within.

950 lets think about that # for a minute. It is one of the most intriguing things about collecting Undergrounds for me. Many of the early publications had runs of 5000 or less. Just a much smaller number than the mainstream. And we are left to wonder how many copies were trashed as defective before they even got to the stores and then how many survive today out of that small number. It just points out how rare and special some of theses books are!

Owned this masterpiece for decades, just took a photo yesterday.  The oversized format lets shine Griffin's intensely detailed lines and beautiful color shading.

Sometimes Judy will go to a show with me and UG's are always her goal... that and T-Shirts. While she loves ZAP and the Freak Brothers like everyone else, she turns up some oddballs too. She even has a copy of Judy Tuna Fish :bigsmile: GOD BLESS....
