Was it over $5,000 each? Regardless, it smells like a scam to me would be interested to hear other's take.

 

I paid under and the other buyer paid over $5000. The book was sold on eBay December 2013 for well over $5000 (did not see this until after the fact). I do not know who purchased the book off of eBay.

Can you give us an approximation of the value of the book (ballpark works)? I'm trying to figure out the scam aspect (i mean what he hoped to gain) My guess is that the person needed gap financing for 2 weeks and used you guys as a loan. Seems HoS not PL worthy to me, but still need some more details and the sellers side of the story.

 

Over $5000.

 

I cannot say for sure but he did withdraw the Paypal funds such that Paypal had to fund the refunds, not him. We are in the process of contacting Paypal's fraud department as well.

 

This doesn't sound like an "oops" on the sellers part so far. Put the name out there and let them try their side of the story.

Seems as if you have put the story out there. Next step is to name the seller and give him an opportunity to tell his side, if chooses to.

I think with two guys buying same book same serial numbers. Sends up red flags to the whole community. Heck he might of even sold to more guys that are unaware of the situation? In my opinion I would of jumped past the whole pm and outed. No excuses for this type of behavior from a seller. I think if was lost that one thing but sold to two different guys the same book. That's a straight up scam. But that's just my opinion.
