I recently had a private garage sale with a longtime collector friend that I haven’t seen in almost 18 months. Needless to say, I was gleeful to add these cool books to my collection!

I've never been able to resist Captain Futures, and titles like The Avenger and Golden Fleece are almost as irresistible.

If you like toy trains, vintage bicycles, erector sets, etc., check out vintage American Boy or the Open Road For Boys magazines - the ads are pure magic.

What is a private garage sale?

On four Sundays each summer from May to September, there is a large flea market/antique fair at the county fairgrounds in town. Today’s market was really slim pickings as far as comics go (it’s always hit or miss, today was definitely a miss) - only one booth had a couple of short boxes. Managed to find at least something, spent $9:

The 339 unfortunately has some staining and water damage.

Glad you found some books. I made the show as well (I make it about once every two years on coincidence alone). I didn’t buy any comics, but I did buy some old pop bottles, cigar boxes, movie magazines and several vintage potato sacks with nice graphics.

I love going and I usually end up leaving with something. Last time I found a ton at one booth, but the guy wasn’t here again unfortunately. Cool that you went too!

It’s a great show with a cool vibe. Mostly vetted antiques and collectibles and not a lot of cheap imported carp and bathroom remodeling or gutter-guard booths. Pretty nice for people watching as well. :shy:
