Thanks - it's definitely a pretty rare piece to find - the parts usually sell for $75-$100 and up on eBay, and a complete one mint in box sold for $16K - just haven't seen very many box-only examples.

Lol ya that was the estimate for the mint in box on the pawn star video, was $16,000, so maybe they got their money 😂

But ya I posted the video thinking they may remark on the box only but no they don't.

Great find!

Gill-Man (Creature From The Black Lagoon)

I knew that doh!

But the synapsis that "those weren't the same as swampy" didn't kick in 😂

:makepoint: meaning @Dave2739 since the idiom failed, that I knew it was the creature from the black lagoon, but my brain didn't fire on all cylinders that "swamp thing" is not a "general term", to include creatures from black lagoons

Ie. all thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs. Basically your confused reaction and similar posts to dissuade implying my posts are,in your words, a struggle to read? It was an attemt to shorten sentences to a short turn a phrase, so I'm all thumbs, I apologize for the inconvenience. :)

lol:insane:

I use the word dissuade, because it does discourage someone from reading my posts, which is fine ie do or don't, but I don't believe that Dave was trying to actually and with intent to "persuade" someone from reading them :)

Benefit of the doubt kind of thing :foryou:

Rick rips off another customer. I know these shows are heavily edited, but I cannot for the life of me fathom why someone would walk into a pawn shop with a hen's teeth of an item, and accept the lowball offer he tossed her way.

Agreed. When I first showed interest, I too didn't know the fees of certain places. Like heritage and or comiclink I still don't. Meaning how much I'd make selling it myself

I know they need to make money, but it's kind of like trading into the LCS, which I still do from time to time. They mostly offer 50% and 10% more is their bottom line.

I've wondered if they get paid to be on the show period, and therefore feel some obligation, but idk. There has to be some reason that someone has an item, and as we know from Reece comics being on the show, don't live in Vegas but fly out anyway?

Idk Reece though didn't accept the offer, and it is most often cash money, which some may prefer. Not often but especially at comic cons when I pay cash I can get a bit of a deal.

But you're right, it makes me wonder 🤔

Being it is in Vegas you may think the seller feels he is real close to hitting the jackpot and just needs a little more cash. But then again who would bring their AF 15 on a casino trip.

If I were so inclined (I am not) , I would sooner try the AF15 at the table. Doyle Brunson might give me a better deal than the ‘Chumlee’ crew.

Lets see 11,000 into 16,000 is 68%, surely fees aren't a 3rd of the price, but I wonder how much it falls back on or is phrased, "Well, ahem, it IS a pawn shop!" :roflmao:

Cause not only would I not go to "That" pawn shop for offers, I'm not usually taking comics to sell at ANY pawn store, but :deadhorse:

I can just hear other pawn shops across the country! "We're not on syndicated television so that'll be 35% of fmv!"

To which the :insane: customer says Vegas GIFs | Tenor

I would be surprised if the sellers aren't paid some kind of compensation by the producers to make it right.  I'm sure the goal of the program is to show Rick, etc. in the light of making great deals for themselves.
