Man am I happy I didn't pick up the Blu-Ray Director's Cut. I believe Lauren mentioned this already, but can't find the thread and thought the official announcement is worth a new thread.

4 Blu-Rays for $59.99 suggested retail will mean less (maybe $40?) on the street, that doesn't sound so bad to me.

 

Where are the Watchmen haters? I know you want to post already, suprised it wasn't the first post actually.

I finally watched the movie. It was the directors cut on regular DVD. It took me 4 nights to watch it because I kept falling asleep. Not that it was horrible, just that it seemed rather slow.

I like the director's cut, but I think splicing in The Black Freighter will weigh the movie down. I don't need a 25 minute allegory of the movie that I'm already watching.

The black Freighter was one of my favourite parts of the original story... I've skipped all of the previous editions just waiting for this all-in-one... Can't wait!

I watched the Black Freighter animation, and I wasn't super impressed. I wasn't really impressed by the movie either. And yet I'm sure I'll wind up buying this $40 dvd anyway.

I have put off buying, so this will be the edition I get. I understand people not wanting another hr added to an already plodding storyline for some, but I love the epic feel of this story.

Yeah I was disappointed when I found out that the Black Freighter portions wouldn't be in the theatrical release. I'm definitely waiting.

I preordered the Director's Cut back when it came out, before I saw Lauren's post here about the Ultimate edition. Wish I'd waited.

I knew that they would eventually release a special edition limited ultimate directors cut or something down the line and I purposefully held out on buying the Directors Cut in favor of waiting for a complete version. Now I won't have to wait as long as I thought I would (Christmas)

I wonder why they had to monkey around with the iconic cover? Ah well, $42 is definitely sounding better than $60 .. about $18 better actually .. weird how that works ..
