I usually don't like supporting products that may not have permission from either NEC or Ben Edlund, but this sign looked so cool I thought I would indulge this one time...

THE TICK LIT UP SIGN LED LIGHT HANGING SIGN

9a4fo7.jpg

Had to get it! It's about 12" wide by 8.66 inches tall and plugs into the wall. Carved on a Clear Acrylic Plastic that feels like glass it now lights up my man-cave. They offer it in other colors like Red, Green, Yellow, or White, but are you kidding?!...it's gotta be in Tick Blue! Okay, my collection is complete...for now. I wonder if NEC or Amazon or Kids Fox Network is thinking about restarting an new merchandise product line?

256daw2.jpg

The Tick Lapel Hat Pin has a stamp on the back saying 95 FCN which normally stands for Fox Children's Network. I acquired this from eBay and upon asking the seller about this pin, he stated that he had "Purchased the pin at a yard sale along with several others novelty/character pins. Most of the other pins were promo from Mcdonald's, so I was told". Thanks goes out to papas_attic for this acquisition.

The Tick Color Limited Edition No. 1 Comic Book Magazine (1st Edition January 2001) Punching Thru with Jacket

rh3515.jpg

The NEW smash hit FULL COLOR TICK COMIC SERIES! This Limited Edition comic sports a new gold foil heavy stock cover adorned with the signatures from all the creators who lent a hand on this hysterical chapter in The Tick's illustrious legend! (Note: This autographed Limited Edition comic set has both the 'Punching Out' cover and 'Stepping Out' cover to Tick Color 1 included with it.)

They emerge from the darkness into...TOTAL COLOR! The Tick and his motley crew forge ahead in this all new series to the brisk and bright new rainbow of colors that now pervade their world. How did it happen? Why did it happen? You'll just have to get your copy to find out how this wondrously twisted event came to pass in the world of The Tick.

EXCERPT from the first page of this comic magazine.

Welcome to The Tick Color #1! This is the FIRST all-new full-color Tick comic book ever published by New England Comics Press. And we've been at this since 1986!

Why a color Tick now - after fifteen years and over sixty original Tick comics? Well, the practical reason is that in the "olden days", color was just not affordable. Color separation was a prohibitively expensive processs and the print run required to support the extra costs was always higher than what The Tick sold.

The cost of color printing has been dropping due to technical advances, especially the use of computers to generate color film without expensive intermediate steps. The character and his universe-hard-edged and somewhat "gritty", as originally conceived-responded to the simplicity of a color-less format. This could be seen in the Chroma-Tick comics of 1990-1993, where we "colorized" the first 9 issues of the original Tick series. Some readers liked the color but the "pure" black-and-whites (which remain in print) continue to outsell these color editions. Same goes for the trade paerback collections: The Tick Omnibus reprints are more popular than The Naked City color book.

But that was then and this is now! The Tick's life has expanded greatly since those simple early days. The City now abounds with heroes, villains and other "colorful" characters. We believe that color is no longer an unaffordable unnecessary "luxury." Reading The Tick in multichromatic hues will enhance the reader's experience-both for the "long-time" Tick fan as well as new Tick admirers who we hope will be spawned by the Fox live-action TV show scheduled to debut March 2001. And don't put it past our clever writers to make the advent of color an event of monumental significance not only iin our world but also in The Tick's Universe!

In closing, we say this to NEW readers of the The Tick comic book series. If you've just picked up this comic, you may be wondering how hard it will be for you to "get into" it. The Tick has been around in comics for a long time. But we at NECP make every effort to keep our stories accessible even to brand-new readers. Please invest a little time in getting "on board" and we believe you'll find the investment very worthwhile. And if you want to peruse The Tick's past...well, we've got all the back issues available-just check the "Color Gallery" later in this comic! WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE TICK - NOW IN COLOR!

What happens when you assemble over 30 different comic creators and give them creative freedom to present The Tick the way they see him!? You get The Tick's 20th Anniversary Special Edition 1! To make The Tick's 20th Anniversary Special Edition 1 truly special New England Comics Press has gathered over two dozen of the finest comic writers and artists of today to help honor The Tick on his 20th birthday! Simon Bisley and Arthur Suydam share the cover duties with their stunning individual cover renditions of The Tick.

The styles of these varied and talented artists range from the super-heroic all the way through the 'alternative' world of comics. In addition to these stories we've included many Tick-related articles such as'Arachnida by Ben Edlund', 'The History of the Tick as I Know It', 'The High Cog Speaks' and the '2006 San Diego Comic-Con Report'.
