Probably because the episode felt like a season finale as opposed to the start of a new season. In any previous season the show would've stretched out the survivor's imprisonment in Terminus for the first half of the season. It seems like somebody told the writers to get their butts in gear. Having never read any of the comics past the first issue I have no frame of reference as to how the source material handled Terminus (or even if it existed in the comics or had some equivalent), but going into this episode I definitely did not expect them to tackle the whole thing in one episode with Carol going all one man army all over it. If those involved with the show were looking to attract new viewers and maintain their existing viewer-base I'm guessing this episode accomplished that. Muscle tone loss - maybe - but having a nose enlargement whilst in captivity Errrrrr...no. Don't forget - the guy at the end of the episode was supposed to be the one Glenn released. And I believe at the end of the season, the cliffhanger will be Glenn getting killed. I'm also starting to think that if Beth (if she isn't already at Alexandria) happened to end up where Negan is in charge THIS.
