Are we all forgetting about the spider situation?

Is anyone going to start a fundraiser to help replace his leg with a prosthetic?

What?

The image from the board sale had what looked like a cracked case with some form of dirt in it. Now, we discovered it was Fester the spider's leg, who was horribly injured while assisting his master with slab scanning.

See - I've even named him. FESTERRRRRRRRRRR!

Without some serious mea culpas by BD, an as-yet-to-be-determined period of contrition and a lot of positive karma, the dude is done.

It was such a stupid thing to do. Some people just don't comprehend ethics

Or even simple pragmatics. His asking price here is 60, the winning bid was 20. What bid would he have accepted? 50 - most likely, perhaps even 45.

So this is all over 20 bucks.

That sucks. Happened to me once, with a big dealer and I saw the book that had been lost at the next convention we were at. Took a lot of restraint to simply not walk off with the book.

At least you got your money back. When dealing with scum, thats the best you can hope for.

this sort of behaviour just makes ebay the lottery/minefield it is today.

the opposite of buyer's remorse it appears to be.

the lame 'little boy cracking out the book' excuse is so transparent.

poor form.

So is continually coming back here under a new ID every few weeks. hm

Here's an ethics question:

I just made a purchase on the boards last night, and after reading this thread I raced back to the sale post to see if this was the same seller. Fortunately, it wasn't.

So, here's the question: if it had been the same seller, would it have been bad form for me to have canceled my purchase in protest of his behaviour, even though it had nothing to do with me? It was a PP transaction but I was prepared to take the necessary steps if so.

I would say canceling a deal like that would be appropriate. You have legitimate concerns about the ethics of the dealer and either 1) don't want to get ripped off also or 2) support a crook. Sleazeballduggery voids any previous sales.
