I was quite surprised to snap up a copy of Popeye #1 off the shelf at Newbury Comics yesterday. It was yet to be touched and was hiding in "P" section. From what I gather here on the boards is that this book is HTF

Popeye's popularity isn't really that high these days. It may be hard to find, but that's at least partially a result of a general lack of interest/enthusiasm for the character.

 

All 3 of my LCS have Popeye 1 on the shelf including the Action 1 swipe.

I was just in a LCS in St. Louis yesterday and they had 10+ copies of Popeye #1 on the shelf.

I bought it on a whim and enjoyed it. Nice whimsical change of pace from the usual run of the mill modern books. Good book to read and then pass on to your kids to read.
