8 of the worst comic book movies of all-time

185 posts in this topic

Some comic movies not mentioned already that I thought weren't really good, in no particular order:

Tank Girl (though the comic wasn't great either so maybe this is a lose-lose)

The Losers

Moneybone (Suppose to be based off Dark Town I think)

Surrogates

Some good ones, in my opinion,

Mars Attacks (if you take it as just a comedy, I thought it was funny)

Cowboys and Aliens (I really liked this movie)

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Was different)

Live action version of TMNT

The Rocketeer

Mars Attacks - I thought it was funny too.

Cowboys and Aliens - thought it started out great, and then got into all of that Hollywood feel good garbage.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - Great, fun movie. My kids loved it too.

Live action version of TMNT - hm

The Rocketeer - Liked it at the time. Thought it was pretty well done.

Good list!

I have a soft spot for that first TMNT movie. I loved KC Jones when I was a kid, and I thought the actor who played was spot on. Also, that movie has a certain grittiness to it that wasn't in the cartoon but in the comic, and I liked that a lot.

The scene where they fight at April's house and break the floor and fall to the closed down antique shop is great.

In no order but my top ninet are

1. Spidey III

2.0000] The Crow (The villain and some sets killed this movie completely for me, even as a kid)

3. Punisher (travolta one)

4. Batman forever

5. Daredevil

6. Fantastic Four

7. American Splendour ( I was bored out my mind)

8. The Hulk (Ang Lee?)

9 Catwoman "Milk...straight"

(I haven't seen many of the doozies listed thus far and am sure the spirit, elektra, LXG, and Jonah Hex would be on here had I seen them.

No way!... I loved The Crow

Constantine is a decent horror/supernatural movie but bears zero resemblance to the source material. The BBC could make a decent TV show out of the comic.

+1

There's a show on BBC called 'The Fades', which makes it clear that a Constantine TV series would be easy to do now. (thumbs u

Here's some info...

I haven't watched all the comic-based movies, and ignoring those made-for-TV things from the 1970's, here's my list

1. Man Thing (2005)

2. The Spirit

3. Constantine

4. Catwoman

5. Swamp Thing 2 Return of the Swamp Thing (sorry, Heather Locklear...)

6. Jonah Hex

7. Howard the Duck

8. Batman and Robin

9. American Splendor (YAWN!)

10. Barb Wire

Honourable mention:

- Supergirl (1984)

- Son of The Mask

- Ghost World

Now I agree! (thumbs u

I thought Ghost World and American Splendor were fantastic movies. They should never have been on any "bad" list.

Now Constantine was hard to sit through...

Very much agree regarding Ghost World and American Splendor...true slices of Americana.

Constantine wasn't just a lumpen, turgid film, it was an opportunity missed. In the right hands (and setting - i.e. England!!!) it could've been turned into a franchise.

I had never read any Hellblazer and thought the movie was pretty good. Same with LGX. Having no knowledge of the source material sometimes is not a bad thing.

I didn't read the comics either, so that seems to be the issue (pun intended!) On the flip side I grew up reading X-Men and hated the movies because they didn't come close to what I was looking for in continuity and which characters were used. Had I read and fell in love with Constantine prior to the movie, I might have felt different about the movie.

How could anyone hate Ghost World or American Splendor? (shrug) Those are fantastic.

Not enough spandex based fisticuffs for some.
