L'Angelo Misterioso
And I always preferred CSS 17 over both of those! But those 3 are definitely the trifecta of the title. Robot Man

I have both books in my collection and consider them to be the best of the precode “hanging” and “decapitated head” motifs. They also have historical significance with 20 forever referred by Wertham as the “cover of a children’s magazine” and 22 the cover that put Gaines on the hot seat that led to the end of precode books. I compare these books to their motif “contemporaries” but not to one another because they are different covers. Still, it comes down to your preference as to what covers you like better than others and I respect that. ThothAmon and jimjum12 1

I find it amazing that so much of this stuff was created and produced. It has been said it was directed at adults. Maybe a lot of them bought and read them but they were also sold to any kid with a dime. Would a news dealer sell a kid a Playboy or nudie magazine? That and the fact that so many of them survived the passage of time even through times of extreme scrutiny. I know my mom would have torn up (and did) any she found me reading. I guess it was monsters and “forbidden fruit” that originally attracted me to them. They wern’t that easy to find when I was young. As far as why I like 20 slightly over 22, just personal preference. Not like I prefer one demise over an other. But 20 is literally “in your face”. That large full head must have really popped out at you on the newstand. The rolled back eyes, the bone protruding in the neck and the coloring is so striking. First time I ever saw it, it really made an impression on me. I don’t know, maybe I am a little sick… Raze, bronze johnny, KirbyJack and 3 others
Popular Post KirbyJack
Here’s my favorite EC hanging cover. Popular Post vaultkeeper
I always thought Shock Suspenstories #8 was a very violent cover. Popular Post Silver
Just got in this insane copy of WS 13. Acquiring this made a nice five issue consecutive run of some fantastic Wood covers. While my personal favorite is still 15, I love each of these books. Thanks to @Inaflash for starting this addiction to EC sci-fi. His multiple copies of WF 17 got me hooked. The WS13 puts me over the 50% line on my quest for a complete EC sci-fi run. I'm now at 29/57 issues. OtherEric, Larryw7, fifties and 13 others

But adding either of those puts us at 56, 65, or 66. None of that detracts from the books themselves, of course!
