29dukedog
Is it something about the new holder, which I have yet to see up close and in person, that causes the book to assume that wavy position? Or was it just a bad slab that could've used a little more quality control?

EC ed
While I'm on a roll cracking out pedigree ECs... Here are a couple that suffered some shipping damage when I received them a while back...I had been debating whether to send them in for reholdering, or just crack them out. I've made my decision! I won't be sending them in for reholdering. Into the wild they go! BE FREE!!!!! The old old label Gaines File Copy smells absolutely amazing. originalisbest
Good call cracking them. The mylars look great! I'm more of an open-top mylar and keep it in a mag bag to prevent scratches and fingerprints, but I'm beyond compulsive about things like that. fifties
The old old label Gaines File Copy smells absolutely amazing. EC's off the news stand or in mailers gave that certain smell, I think from the ink, that no other comic publisher had. If your file copy retained that smell, after over half a century, it's truly fantastic!! A sensory experience from the early '50's, and certainly something that couldn't be enjoyed were the book in a slab.

A sensory experience from the early '50's, and certainly something that couldn't be enjoyed were the book in a slab. My first Gaines File Copy, a Weird Science 14, was purchased in 1991 from Russ Cochran. I kept that book in the raw until just last summer, largely because I so enjoyed being able to have that tactile, sensory experience of it. But I finally broke down and decided the book should be preserved for the ages. (I'm now quite glad I had it slabbed just when I did, and didn't wait any longer...)
