It's my opinion that customer service will see this as acceptable.  It's not in the line of view of the book.  Again, that is my opinion.  Feel free to ask customer service for a second opinion.

There is a crack in the holder. This isn't acceptable.

As has likely been mentioned, unfortunately perhaps sooner rather than later slabs without defects will be the exception. :frown: Hopefully, their contents will be undamaged.

I agree with this Andy. I don't think it is for CGC to determine what flaws are acceptable, whether that be Newton Rings, scuffs or these cracks. Would CGC tolerate any of these examples in their own advertising? If they graded a 9.9 AF15, and wanted to show it off to the world in all its crystal clear glory, do you think it would ever display any of these issues?

This kind of addresses something that I've often wondered. We all know of the many, many quality issues. (I won't go into the lack of giving a     by CGC at this time) But I've often wondered if more care was given to the higher tiers. If a book has a higher FMV, does the chances of any of these defects (shards, NRs, smudges/scratches, cracks, and on and on) go down? Or does a book submitted under the WT tier (or whatever they're calling it these days) have the same risk of 'acceptable' defects as a book submitted under the Modern tier?

Anyone else have this happen? Is this a defect? From the front, looks like a crack. But, on closer inspection, seems to be something with how they sealed it. Two boxes of moderns, about 50 books, all have it, but the two walkthroughs did not. This the new newton ring?

We need a 3rd party service that certifies the condition of the slab and puts a cool sticker on it in order to potentially generate more revenue.

As you may know, there are at least two companies that "grade" slabbed comic books. So, why not? lol
