At first I thought you were calling out this:

That corner (and edge) looks softer in high-rez than it was in hand. It's surprising, given the nature of the original, but the reprint was really cheaply produced even in comparison. I don't think that's actually wear.

I really do not understand why the graders have such a hard time with some of these later printings, especially when some of them are clearly marked with both a different UPC and a roman numeral on the cover. doh!

@CGC Mike

Please show this one to to grading team as this seems to be a book that they continue to mislabel as a Second Print , when it is not.

What a second Print actually looks like. Screenshot_20240710_160239_eBay.thumb.jpg.49b56e3365ea32d3abf5a6ae831009b8.jpg

Interesting - the scan of the book doesn’t look nearly as bad, which would indicate that the book is being actively damaged in the slab, either by rough handling or shipping?

There seems to be some of that going around. I got back a WoS #1 9.6, sold it last week, and when it arrived at the customer's place today, the bottom was all kinds of damaged (see pic). A week before that, another customer got his Invincible #1. It graded 9.4. When it got to him, the top was eaten up. The invincible customer said the inner well is completely loose, and the book is moving around in the well to boot. The WoS guy says his moves, nothing crazy, but apparently enough to chew up the bottom of the book 🤔 So I wouldn't be absolutely shocked if there was spine damage instead in someone else's book, as it seems to only be affecting one side of the books in question.

That bottom edge :S

Maybe just a slight bend that's creating a wavy appearance when looked at straight-on?  :wishluck:

Hopefully nothing like this:

I was referring to the piece out in the center of the bottom edge and the raggedness at the left corner, silverfish damage maybe.  This forum reduces my original image quality sometimes and you can see the flaws better on the cert page image.
