i was hoarding this book about 15 years ago. i wanted a copy in every grade. i ended up with about 15 copies, the highest a cgc 9.0. to me, the prices are still fixed there from that time.

9.8s are $10k

9.4s are $1800

9.2s are $1200

9.0s are $900

8.5s are $800

8.0s are $600

7.5s are $475

6.5s are $325

it was rare to see copies 3.0 or lower.

incredible how much this book has gone up.

all the naysayers who have, for years now, been claiming this book is too common to be a good investment, just reference this post, and then please stop jabbering.

The IH181 cgc 9.8 W is at $81K!  GPA all-time high is 59.5K, but does anyone know whether CL or CC had one for more this year?    24 mins to go.

Wow that Comiclink 181 closed at $86K so the purchaser will pay way over $90k after taxes damn. Wonder if this is a new record price.

cc reports to gpa. its just CL that does not. 

last gpa sale, march 3, 45.5k, owwp.

tonight, 86k, white pages. 

no doubt, the market is waaaay different now than just 5 months ago. also white pages are worth more.

It peaked quickly but the look of things.  Someone was keen to get their copy and set a nose-bleed bid that was probably intended to scare off the competition.

This book will never cease to boggle my mind. And to be transparent I think I helped open the flood gates on this one, as I broke GPA at least twice with two 9.8's sold in the last couple of years .

38k and 45k respectively .  Shortly thereafter it really started picking up steam. I am done selling for awhile , lol.

Looking over my hobby, which now spans over 35 years, I have some really great books. I'm proud of the fact that I only spent $100 or more on 12 comicbooks. My 181 was the most expensive. It cost me $350 about 15 years ago. I may have overpaid then, but the monetary return is now really good. New Mexico isn't a mecca for keys to appear and be available (until fairly recently) and I don't ever remember seeing a copy of 181 for sale until I bought this one. Immediately it was one of my best comicbooks.

Mid-grade is the best grade. I can read it whenever I wish (which is often) without the worry of damaging it.

I've been a member of this club for a few years with a lowly 3.0 SS (I am not as passionately for or against Stan Lee's sig on this book like others are, but didn't pay a premium for it at the time so I was happy with it), but I added an 8.5 to my collection this week thanks to @Math Teacher. So if anyone is interested the 3.0 is now for sale.

Nice pickup! I personally am not fond of having any signatures on comics. Not something i'm interested in. Like my books clean.
