In terms of the Encor 50 pack, I consider myself to have been extremely fortunate in the ratio of DCUs/multipacks I received out of the total (39 of 51, I think) as well as having gotten some harder DCUs in the package.  I believe the one unpacking video I watched on Youtube only had about 12 out of 50 in their pack, so YMMV. My set also had 51 comics in it, with an extra copy of Ghost Rider Midnight Sons #28 Newsstand Polybag.  For what it is worth, the seller told me they picked the 50 pack up at a Wegman's Store.

Congratulations on that 50 pack. They are extremely hard to find and as you mentioned they had several 5 packs as well although like the above pack these had a mix of DCU and other editions.

Action Comics #723 is found in both a 2 pack and this collector's set.

I can say that there may not have been any included in some of the packs as I have noted some contain different prints, but I have opened a few as others have done the same and no 499 third has emerged from any of them. So far those have only been found in the 2 packs.

Thanks! At the time I was taking it on faith that 4 front facing comics with known DCUs would be worth the risk and it paid off.

Do you know what #723 DCU 2 pack was paired with? As I said, I once thought it was a myth and it wasn't until I opened the Collector's Set with it that had the DCU that I realized otherwise (I had figured the set would have a newsstand or direct edition similar to that one Green Lantern set withe the direct edition annual until then).

I just looked back as I thought I had a screenshot of the 2 pack that had it, but unfortunately I do not see it in there. 

I do completely understand as there are a few packs that contain non dcu . (The green lantern pack, Superman Wedding, Death / Funeral Sets, etc.

Super helpful post! Thank you. It’s surprising the range of different comics in these collectors packs. Is the barcode different between these packs? Or consistent for all the Doomsday! Packs ?

The dual packs all have the same barcode. The individual packs (death , funeral) have a different upc than the double pack. Although the individual packs have a different upc for the death and funeral, they do not have variations for the different  printings that are contained inside.

I had a quick question as I was working my way through my Flash DCU variants...

My Flash #91 DCU says "Collector Pack First printing" in the indicia, while my #96 DCU says "Second printing". Are those the standard DCU editions, or are these variants of variants? I feel like I'm discovering another rabbit hole.

Great observation on your part.  I believe that this discovery has already been documented way back in this same thread (I didn't have the patience to find the postings that described this discovery but I am pretty sure it is there).  Another example of this is the two different DCU versions of Detective 674.  I found the DCU version that had "Collector's Pack First Edition" in a pack called "The Batman Collection", so I'm guessing the other version was made for a differnet kind of pack.  The other DCU version had did not saying anything about the edition number in the indicia.

Thanks for raising this question.  This prompted me to generate and share a list of the differences I've observed and to ask for feedback regarding completeness.

From the DCU variants that I've observed, the following five comics have two different versions.  There is a version with no notation in the indicia and a different version with the indicated text in the indicia.  So fortunately it appears to be a very small rabbit hole!

However, there are about 150 DCUs that I've not had the opportunity to check and, even if I had, it would be possible that I'd not have had the right copies to identify that two versions exist.  I welcome any further input on indicia differences!  There are also plenty of DCUs where I've identified a notation in the indicia but haven't seen a "no notation" version.  I'll put that list in a following post. 

Detective #674 -  "Collector's Pack First Printing"

Flash #96 - "Second Printing" and it has a different back cover vs the first printing

Legends of the Dark Knight #63 - "Collector's Pack First Printing"

Superman The Man of Steel #30 - "Collector's Pack First Printing"

Here are the DCUs that have notations in the indicia, falling into the four different categories listed below.  I've not found a different version of any of these with no notations. However, I suppose it's possible that any of these issues could have a counterpart version that has no notation in the indicia. Maybe if enough copies are checked, such versions will be found for one or a few.  For some of these I've definitely examined multiple copies and haven't found any such versions, but again I'd welcome feedback regarding any discoveries or if I've made mistakes in compiling this information.

First of all... congrats... your SM MOS 50 is one of the rarest DCUs.   Second, yes the 39 DCU exists (I beleive you will see a photo earlier in this thread and I have one of those).   Third, I think you will eventually find your SM MOS 42 DCU.   The only catch, there's two versions of the SM MOS 42... stickered and un-stickered.

Thanks Kirk. I have a SM MOS 42... stickered. Now I just need the un-stickered and the #39. Then for some reason and I am not sure why now but I will have all or most all of the covers in this series. Over 320, not counting any foreign. If I can't read it, I don't need it.
