Looks like the auto-embed didn't work, and then it goes to the first trailer.

Could this mean Fox is finally getting wise to the fact they have this massive X-Universe it can build out wisely?

Logan Eyeing $60 Million Opening Weekend Box Office

Quote

Approximately two weeks before Logan hits theaters, the James Mangold-directed flick is tracking in the $55 to $60 million dollar range (via The Wrap) -- which falls in line with its current 4.31-out-of-5 in the ComicBook.com Anticipation Rating. For an R-Rated superhero film, that is rather stellar, and would also be an improvement on The Wolverine, which grossed $53 million back in 2013. Granted, it's below X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the less said about that terrible movie the better.

While Logan looks to open strong, it will have a fight on its hands relatively quickly, as the rest of March is occupied by some big films, including Kong: Skull Island and Beauty And The Beast. While it could hold its own against Kong: Skull Island if word of mouth is positive, Beauty and the Beast will be a juggernaut, so expect it to fall pretty hard after that film debuts.

Review embargo lifts at noon today, but individual reviews of Logan are starting to show up.

Letterboxd - Logan (2017)

Last gun in the valley. Best one of these in a really long time. You'd think it'd get old the 267th time those claws go through a dude's face, but...it doesn't.

Rating: 4/5 stars

After the first solo Wolverine film being one of the worst superhero films ever made and the second film being moderately entertaining at best, I am beyond ecstatic with how much I loved "Logan." It's a bold, risk-taking superhero film with high stakes, real consequences, and genuine character drama. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart give the best performances they've ever given in these roles and James Mangold fulfills the promise of delivering the hard-R rated, violent Wolverine film that fans have wanted for so long. This is the best superhero film I've seen in a long time.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars

I mean if this is indeed the last time to see Hugh Jackman as Logan, what a way to go out on.

Rating: 4/5 stars

Logan it legitimately felt like I was watching a neo-western film; something akin to Hell or High Water. It's partial detachment from the cinematic universe it takes place in as Mangold let people know makes the film feel more grounded and as a result more visceral. Mangold makes you feel every

:censored: blow Logan takes. Logan’s screams of pain make your skin crawl as you know he's not able to heal the same way he use to in the past making you that more anxious about his condition in the film. Before i say anything else let me talk about the action in this film. The action in this :censored: insane. Mangold doesn't hit you with constant action as he spreads to out but when it hits it's :censored: brutal and beautiful giving that R-rating a run for its money.

In regards to the main leads in the film they all shined. Patrick Stewart brings his “A” game in again portraying Professor X providing some comedic relief in a very dark and violent film and being Logan’s last real link to his past. X-23 is great as well as Dafne Keen the young actress who plays her gives a solid performance playing a silent girl who's been through too much at such a young age. Finally, in regards to Jackman what can I say, the guy gives his all like he's always done. You feel the physical and emotional pain Logan is in from Jackman’s great performance.

Logan’s weakest aspect is its villains. While not necessarily bad they don't present anything unique. They serve their purpose well and do cause a lot of problems for Logan but it feels as though any basic character could fill that role of the villain of the antagonist. Another component of the film which the film could have done better is the fate of certain characters. Even with these flaws the film is so strong in everything else that I had to really nitpick certain aspects to find flaws.

Logan is an awesome film that has incredibly great action and solid emotional moments sprinkled throughout. There's so much in this movie which the trailers don't even hint at which makes me so happy as people will honestly be surprised when watching a big budget film like this. I won't lie in saying I didn't get emotional at the end of the film as Mangold created this cool visual metaphor which didn't catch until thinking about the ending of the film when writing this. Overall I'm happy with this being the end for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Thank you Hugh Jackman!

Logan | With air of Stranger Things and a tone of tragedy, the film draws applause and tears

Quote

At the end of Logan 's first public  screening at the  67th Berlin Film Festival , in a  closed -down after-hours session  (and restricted by embargoes), a Russian reporter thundered loudly amid a fervent salvo of applause:

"This is the best superhero movie ever made, " his statement being confirmed with nods of conviction from his session colleagues.

There were people - and a lot - crying with emotion for the tone of tragedy that packs the third solo adventure of the most beloved carcaju in the comics. With world premiere on March 1, it marks the farewell of Australian actor  Hugh Jackman  of the role, after 17 years. The star comes to the German capital this Friday to talk about what he learned on this journey and what he did with choosing the Old Man Logan  comic series  as a raw material for the Requiem of the  Wolverine franchise , which ends with two feet in the realism, with A rhythm of feverish action, but in the mold of the dry aesthetics of American author cinema of the 1970s, especially that of director  Sam Peckinpah  in  The Implacable  (1972).

There is also a quest from  Stranger Things  on Logan's escape to protect the girl Laura ( Dafne Keen ) from the Butchers' troop led by Donald Pierce ( Boyd Holbrook of  Narcos ). But it will only be given a green light to explain what you see on screen in this film (ops!) Without post credits (ops again!) After his gala at the  Berlinale Palast . From there it is possible to speak more about the metalanguage used by the director  James Mangold  (of the cult  CopLand ) when showing comic books on the screen several times. And it will be possible to evaluate the (astonishing) evolution of Jackman  in the skin of an aged Wolverine. Until then, the trailer is the only appetizer for this potential  blockbuster , with ingredients to be called the best episode of the lineage of the  X-Men  in theaters.

Logan Is The Perfect Finale For Hugh Jackman As Wolverine

Logan is unlike any comic book movie before it thanks to Jackman and Stewart's chemistry, Mangold's willingness to take risks, and 20th Century Fox allowing all of this to happen under an R-rating.

Each sequence, including the few which appeared to be veering slightly off track on the way to Jackman's final moments as a mutant, culminate to make Logan an emotional masterpiece. It is a movie which will raise the bar for movies featuring super heroes going forward. Emotional gut punches, risky filmmaking choices, and beautiful performances from Jackman, Stewart, and Keen make Logan an absolute must see movie for anyone who can handle it.

Bottom Line: Logan is a violent, emotional masterpiece and the perfect ending to Hugh Jackman's run as the Wolverine. 4.5/5

‘Logan’ Review: Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Goes out on a Brutal and Moving High Note

Franchises should end more often. Freed from setting up the next installment or worrying about if an actor will reprise a beloved role, Logan isn’t constrained by rating, putting pieces in place for the next chapter, or keeping characters alive because they might be needed down the road. Logan is an ending, not just for its titular character and the actor who defined the role for a generation, but for how he defined the X-Men saga. While Fox will continue to make X-Men movies, Logan feels like the conclusion of a story that began back in 2000 and in the hands of director James Mangold, the film serves as a moving farewell to a unforgettable character and the franchise he defined.

That’s not to say that Logan is the way forward for the X-Men franchise as a whole. It’s a fitting conclusion for the mutant that’s been at the center of most of the X-Men movies. Although the action is fun and sure to excite audiences, Logan is mostly concerned with giving the character the send-off he deserves. It’s always been clear that Jackman cares deeply about the character and what it did for his career, and he gives one of his best performances to date in saying goodbye to Wolverine. Mangold exquisitely crafts the picture around him, but as always, Jackman is the beating heart of the story.

Logan is a unique film. It’s not a game-changer for the X-Men franchise or the superhero genre as a whole. It could really only be done with Jackman signing off and with Mangold being given the authority to really cut loose and present a clear, uncompromised vision. The result is a movie that does have a few faults (like most X-Men movies, it’s a little too long), but overall Logan provides a fond farewell to Jackman and the character he defined for a generation.
