Too late to play? I'll add the Lowry to my CAF and put up a few covers from this year tomorrow.

It is too late to play. Once voting has started, there can be no more additions to the selections. Sorry. But hopefully you'll make it next year. :)

Here are my submissions:

Lady Death: Between Heaven and Hell. I always wanted a piece by Steven Hughes and this one was an awesome cover. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it. Sexy and detailed. I am pleased to add this to my collection: http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8332

Transformers. Optimus Prime. Cover. 'Nuff said.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8333

Star Wars: Driod. The epic battle between Obi Wan and Darth Vader. Early Marvel and Large art. I needed this in my life. Star Wars art is really hard to come by and demad is sure to go higher

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8330

PREACHER!!!!! Anyone have a page to sell? Jesse. Duke. 'Nuff said. Always happy to add a piece of this quality to my collection.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8331

I was after this piece for years and years. Alwways inquiring but never getting a response. For some reason, this was the year I was finally able to add this to my collection and I couldn't be more thrilled. It definitely isn't the most valuable piece but it is one of my favorites and it has a lot of sentimental value. In the end, that is what means the most, I suppose..

My Favorite Unpublished/Published: Other of 2015 are:

eewwnuk 1's Detective Comics 612 Full Book - Having a complete issue of OA is a pretty amazing. Particularly so when most collectors want just one example of an artist/title and they move on. So seeing more of this collecting style brings a smile to my cold cold heart.

Ricky Bobby's Marvel-Impel Marvel trading card series I - 1990- Wolverine variations + Storm - Jim Lee (Big Apple Con 2015) - Great art and great display

Rich C's CATWOMAN- MICHELLE PFEIFFER by OLIVIA De Bernardinis - OLIVIA ! I don't get jealous of many art posts, but this one . . . . . .

David Dingman's Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn by Eric Canete - Canete has a fantastic, unique style

Jared Simmon's Batman Masterpiece - Last but not least, this piece also gets OVER ALL BEST PIECE OF ART POSTED TO CAF IN THE YEAR 2015 from a talent we lost far too soon, Aype Beven.

Such a great mix of decades and styles in the submissions this year. Many times I was comparing apples to oranges while trying to get down to 5 picks... which is much more interesting than apples to apples and a great way to reexamine your own personal tastes.

That link only works if you're you. :makepoint:

Hmmm.. strange, since it said it is to "See/Share your votes." Ah well, the long way it is....

Published/Unpublished: Covers

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8051

The Incredible Hulk 306 cover by Mike Mignola - John Espinoza: Have always loved Mignola's all too short run on the 80's Hulk, especially the covers, like this one.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8332

Lady Death: Between Heaven Hell #2 Cover - C F: A very memorable piece for me, as this mini-series was my very first foray into the Lady Death character. And you never forget your firsts.... especially when they are built like that. ;)

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8184

Marvel Super Hero Secret Wars 4 Cover - Joe Shaffer: With the exception of the Spidey in the black suit one, this is easily the most memorable cover to the first major mini-series tie-in event in comic history. How could you NOT pick it?

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7834

Superman #80 Cover by Dan Jurgens - Chris Swartz: Pretty much epitomizes and encapsulates the main theme of the "Reign of the Supermen" storyline. Jurgens at the top of his form.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8098

Barry Windsor-Smith Rune / Silver Surfer cover - Sean Wasielewski: You can never go wrong picking a BWS piece, IMO.

Published: Splash Pages, Pinups

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8112

Elektra : Assassin #6 end splash - Bill Sienkiewicz - Alex B: Bill's "magnum opus" series, IMO. And you have to love a gal who keeps her weapons clean.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8315

Classic X-Men 4 splash page - Robert Haines: I always loved the "one-upsmanship" games that Nightcrawler played with Wolvie. This image perfectly captures the friendly rivalry.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8263

Amazing Spider-Man #162 title splash - Dan Jerome: Having recently acquired an Andru/Esposito Spidey page of my own, I truly appreciate the power and tension on display in this splash. Fine craftsmanship from one of the greats!

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7978

Todd McFarlane - Spiderman 6 pg.12 - Mike K: I grew up on McFarlane's Spider-Man work. And this image shows you the frenetic power and hyper-detailed style that has made him a superstar in comics the world over.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8136

Jose Gonzalez - Vampirella #13, p. 1 (Warren) - Gene Park: The unbridled sexual appeal, as well as the dramatic tension of the scene, when added with the pure artistry of Jose Gonzalez, all adds up to a winner. In anyone's books.

Published: Interior Panel Pages

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8010

Mark Bagley: The Amazing Spider-man #400, page 37 - THIEFAR art: While the Clone saga is probably one of the most hated stories in Spider-Man lore, the one good thing that came of it was the touching and heart-wrenching death of May Parker. And it is sequences like this that made it the sole light in an otherwise fairly abysmal storyline.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8255

Dave Gibbons Watchmen Issue 9 pg. 23 - Migs D C: Great character page of Doctor Manhattan. And I love a classic nine-panel layout sequence. Classic storytelling.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8122

Iron Man #232 Page 3 (Barry Windsor-Smith, Bob Layton) - Daren Domina: Like I said, you can't go wrong picking a BWS piece. But more than that, it is from what is likely my favorite Iron Man story ever done and featuring my favor of all his armors (the Silver Centurion suit). Sheer artistic brilliance!

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8105

Iron Man #149, Page #27 - Love This Stuff: Have to love a page with Shellhead knocking around old Doom. And the classic "Doom-speak" is always a crowd pleaser.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8278

Hulk # 139 Pg. 19 by Herb Trimpe - Jim Warden: Trimpe will always be one of the all-time great Hulk artists and pages like this show you why. Great storytelling sensibility, that's loaded with drama and menace. Very effective in conveying the desperation of the Leader.

[Note: I'm not really that well versed in strip art, so these are all based solely on the notability of the artists or the strip itself.]

Charles Schulz Peanuts Daily Strip Original Art dated 12-3-57 - Comicart B

Sky Masters - Kirby & Wood 7-9-1959 - Justin Belmont

Carol Day 133 by David Wright - Mark Howland

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8226

Frank Frazetta Johnny Comet Sunday - Gary Land

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8154

Star Wars Daily - RUSS MANNING 2-23-1980 - John Stuart

Published/Unpublished: Commissions

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8283

Goblin Queen Arthur Adams - Dean Abraham: It's got a sexy babe and monstrous creatures. The two things Art Adams has become synonymous with. What's not to love?

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7844

Galactus & Silver Surfer - THE COMICART2003: If you love the cosmic stuff, you have to love big daddy G. And when it's done by Ron Lim, you call it a smash out of the ballpark!

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8344

Kelley Jones draws Bane - John Espinoza: With the exception of Graham Nolan, I don't think anyone can do proper justice to Bane except Kelley Jones. Jones' covers during the Knightfall saga are part of what made that story standout in many a fan's mind. My own included.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8132

Darth Vader by Esad Ribic - Leonard Richman: Star Wars is ruling the roost currently, so it would only make sense that something of that universe would be among my picks. And when it's a bad azz shot of the baddest bad azz of Star Wars, well, you call it a "no-brainer."

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7886

Dejah Thoris - unpublished commission - Mark Yanko: A sense of danger, a dramatic presence, a bit of nudity, and a hell of a lot of a sensual vibe. That can all be found in this great image, of one of the biggest sci-fi goddesses.

Unpublished: Convention Sketches

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8148

The Original 5 - Batman Villains Jam - eewwnuk 1: Gotta love a great jam piece of some of Batman's best rogues. Lots of big name talent, all taking it to the nth degree.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7906

Black Cat by Frank Cho - Octavio D: The only thing sharper than Frank Cho's humor in this piece, is the curves he put on Black Cat. And that's why we love Frank Cho!

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8257

Bill Sienkiwicz Elektra - Migs D C: Great contrast of bright colors against some very bold blacks. Really makes the image pop.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8231

Red Sonja by Ernie Chan - Milos K: A great sketch by the late and great Ernie Chan, of one of the characters that helped make his work so memorable. Even now.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7935

Selina Kyle by Tim Sale - Vincent VP: It's all mood and atmosphere in this one. And I love the hands just edging into the shot at the very bottom. Tim Sale is the modern day master of moody effects.

Unpublished/Published: Other

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8117

Jean Grey prelim by Bolton - Miki Annamanthadoo: Even in mere prelim form, John Bolton's recognizable style shine through. Some guys finished pencils don't have this much polish.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7943

Alfredo Alcala - Savage Sword of Conan (unpublished Title Page) - Michael Diaz: I just absolutely love the lush and vibrant inks on this one. From the hair, to the cloaks and robes, to the shadows on the walls and door, it has a great feeling of depth and texture to it.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8141

Stephen Fabian - Ursula Andress from the Movie, "She" - Roger K: Love the film. Love Ursula Andress. What more needs to be said?

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8217

Nintendo Power #60 cover - Super Metroid - Dan M: This one is a hit of pure nostalgia for me. I remember the many hours I played Metroid and this image just takes me back to the simpler and care free times.

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=7851

Warren Vampirella #19/Door Poster recreation - Brian Peck: I'm not one who's big on recreations (I'm also not very fond of film remakes, either), but when you have Jose Gonzalez tributing what is arguably his best Vampirella image, even I have to make an exception for it!

And there you have them. Once again, congrats to those who were able to get my votes. :)

Just placed most of my votes. Do you need to vote for each category in order to make them count?

Found the published / unpublished commission section to be particularly strong.

I also concur with Not so Nice that the Aype Beven Batman piece was the best piece of artwork posted in CAF for 2015. It should have been in the commission section, but I guess its such a masterpiece that it deserved its own limelight.

So many great pieces...the Splash/Pin-Up section was the most heavily contested for me, where I had a dozen candidates that could have easily made the cut. I ended up restricting my votes to 1 piece per owner's gallery to help spread the love around, but, even so, there were many pieces that narrowly missed out:

My votes:

New Teen Titans 23 George Perez Cover by George Perez - Joe Shaffer's Lowry

http://www.comicartfans.com/LowryPiece.asp?Piece=8071

Fantastic Starfire cover by her co-creator, great combination of Perez and Giordano. Why do people forget to give credit to the inkers? But I will lover look that mistake for a cover like this

Not a case of forgetting, just trying to enter things in quickly and move on with a busy family.

Would be great if you could just click on your entry already in CAF and add it to the Lowry without having to find the image etc and do all that.

Maybe there is a way but I just missed it. (maybe Move to another gallery does it??)

here is the CAf page with all appropriate credits ! :acclaim:Spoon Inker

And thank you for the vote !!! :applause:
