That's going on my list as the fourth pre-code example. I feel really stupid for not noticing it as I do like the Frankenstein and frequently look for those issues.

I just posted a scan of Strange Tales 26 in the Pre-Hero Marvel thread (Silver Age section), and couldn't resist posting Strange Tales 28 in this thread. The cover is a masterpiece of pre-code horror by Harry Anderson, probably Atlas comics' best anonymous artist.

It was a blast reading it again -- it's just too funny.

 

It's a Bill Everett cover -- AtlasT has scanned one of the panels from the interior story that he also drew.

 

Gotta agree with you on Harry Anderson -- he did quite a few outstanding covers and interiors for Atlas.

Good luck finding a decent Strange Tales 28 - very tough issue and the only copy I've been able to turn up, I returned due to replaced staples - it IS a great cover, but it's right there in your Gerbers!

Yes indeed, Everett's a superb artist and stylist. Love the expressions on his characters' faces.
