2016 was a great collecting year for me. Added several great pieces, including:

 

1. American Gods paperback cover painting by Robert McGinnis

 

2. Amazing Fantastic Incredible - A Marvelous Memoir Stan Lee cover art - Colleen Doran

 

3. Jack Kirby splash from the Stan Lee memoir - Colleen Doran

 

4. Flash/Superman Race homage by Darwyn Cooke

 

 

Really enjoying looking at all the great art in this year's submissions!

Less than a day to post your Best of 2016, entries end at midnight tonight

 

 

Here are the rules and information on Best of 2016. This year the Unpublished Convention Sketches will be expanded to include Sketch Covers.

 

Below is instructions on how to upload images and descriptions for the entries. We have set aside a week for people to upload their stuff and then voting will begin.

 

Best of 2016 Published and Unpublished (happens at the same time)

You will have up to 5 entries and they can be in any of the 7 categories:

Published Covers (Unpublished covers as well)

Published Splashes, Pin-Ups

Published Interior Panel pages

Published Strip Art

Published/Unpublished Commissions (work artist drawn outside of conventions)

Unpublished Sketch Covers/Convention Sketches

Published/Unpublished Other (all Published/Unpublished material which doesn’t fall into the other 6 categories (drawings, prelims, Style Guides, Rock Poster art, illustrations. etc.))

 

Posting Entries Begins: Saturday January 7th

Posting Ends: Jan 15 11:59PM (Sunday)

 

 

Best Published Acquisions of 2016.

This theme lists each participating member's best acquisition of 2016 that has appeared or is/was scheduled to appear or created to appear in a comic book or comic book related publication. This category includes all published material, unpublished covers, and similar items.

 

Best Unpublished Acquisions of 2016.

This theme lists each participating member's best acquisition of 2016 that has not appeared and is not scheduled to appear in a comic book or comic book related publication. This category includes all unpublished material (except unpublished covers and pages), drawings, prelims, Style Guides. sketches commissions ect.

 

 

 

Procedure for adding entries:

 

1) Goto http://www.comicartfans.com/Login.asp

2) Select Login then Admin/Edit User Profile

3) Select Manage/Manage Galleries Preferences

4) Select Your Lowry and add pieces (if you have not used the Lowry before)

5) Click the 'View/Add Pieces' link and then click the 'Add New

Artwork' link.

6) Add a piece as you usually do to the caf but there is an additional field "Best of 2016"

7) Please include the artists names (both penciler and inker if it applies)

8) There are 6 categories to chose from:

 

Published Covers (Unpublished covers as well)

Published Splashes, Pin-Ups

Published Interior Panel pages

Published Strip Art

Published/Unpublished Commissions (work artist drawn outside of conventions)

Unpublished Sketch Covers/Convention Sketches (artwork drawn at conventions)

In everyone's CAF there is a yellow section in the lower left there is a "Art by Year" section. It breaks down when pieces are posted by year.

 

I will post instruction on where and how to go about voting for the Best of before voting day.

When I look back on 2016, I didn't acquire many trophy pieces so decided to enter only affordable art.

 

I was shooting for all 5 to be under $500 each and got 4 of 5 with the fifth under $750. All together these 5 pieces cost comfortably under $2K so you can collect this stuff without being totally flush.

 

I also consider my Lowry entries to ensure they represent my interests as I am always after more art...so if you are considering parting with any art like this please let me know....no Everett, BWS, Jones or Kirby here this year but change that for me in 2017..at well over $500, I know.

1) Goto http://www.comicartfans.com/admin/aAdminLogin.asp

 

2) Login in

 

3) Goto http://www.comicartfans.com/Lowry.asp

 

5) Look through the entries for that category and pick up to 5 (yes 5 votes per category)

 

6) YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN AND flagged as a comicart-L member before

you will the link tha reads: "TO VOTE CLICK HERE" and select the link.

 

7) Click that and you will have a pop-up window with 5 pulldown menus

showing all the pieces of art from the Category you are in. Be aware

of the instructions on the page. You will only be able to vote ONE

time. If you only pick four pieces and leave the last one blank you will

not be able to come back and pick one more. After you vote, click the

'Close Window' link to return to the Category listing. Once you vote,

the link on the Category page to vote will no longer be there after

you leave the page. Please don't ask us to vote again or change your

votes.

 

It is as simple as that. No one can vote again for that category since

the link wont appear. We are tracking the UserID of the person voting

so they can never vote again for a Category.

 

8) Go onto the next category. Repeat steps 6-8 for the other 6

categories.
