Sounds like the Thor 4 set is turning into an entertaining time.

Marvel bosses were reportedly unimpressed with the recent photographs of director Taika Waititi together with Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson.

 

Last week, the director, singer and actor made headlines when photos of the trio sharing an intimate moment on the balcony of Waititi’s Sydney home went viral on social media.

 

 

Waititi is currently filming the highly anticipated sequel Thor: Love and Thunder together with actor Thompson (who plays Valkyrie) in Australia. The director and Ora sparked dating rumours last month, arriving together at the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under in April.

 

According to The Daily Telegraph, Marvel bosses have reportedly reprimanded the Kiwi filmmaker for the photographs.

“Well, just between (me and) you and the readers, I’ve done some crazy mess in my life. I’ve lived, like, ten lifetimes. But it’s the craziest film I’ve ever done,” he said. If the film’s plot remains under wraps, we do know that Love And Thunder will somehow weave in the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, who’s expected to wield Mjolnir at some point in the movie.

Plus Christian Bale as Gorr The God Butcher, plenty more celeb cameos, hang-time with the Guardians, and Thor with big, crimped ‘80s hair. “If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense,” Waititi admits. “It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love And Thunder. I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”

 

Waititi continued:

“It’s very different from Ragnarok. It’s crazier. I’ll tell you what’s different. There’ll be far more emotion in this film. And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the photos.”

Marvel fans still have a few months before Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters, but director Taika Waititi has other projects for you to enjoy in the meantime. His new show, Our Flag Means Death, just released its first three episodes on HBO Max. Currently, the show is up on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% critics score and a 67% audience score. In honor of the new pirate action/comedy, Waititi paid a visit to The Late Late Show with James Corden, and Marvel came up during the interview. During the chat, Waititi revealed how he impressed the studio back when he was hired to direct Thor: Ragnarok. 

 

"Say yes. Say yes to everything," Waititi replied when asked how he impressed Marvel. "Just nod, 'Yes, absolutely I can do that. I won't let you down.' It's like getting any job. If you want a job, you've got to lie. You've got to fake it."

 

Better Things star Pamela Aldon was also on the show, and she added that Mel Brooks had a similar motto. "Mel Brooks said you just say yes to everything, even though you're talking out of your . You're just saying yes and then you get to the point where you're making it, and it all works out." This made Waititi laugh as he repeated, "It just works out!"

During an article discussing Disney’s troubled 2012 flick John Carter and its own reshoots, the publication reports that the summer release is “going back for additional photography in the next few weeks.” With marketing for the MCU flick well under way, and an expected release date of July 8, 2022, it is likely that these reshoots were not part of the original production plan.

Not sure what to make of reshoots, but I've read a couple times now that Marvel incorporates reshoots into all their films to make sure the 'best ideas win'.  My guess is that this is business as usual, especially given Watiti's penchant for improvisational scenes/comedy.

Whenever toy manufacturers ship products to retailers like Walmart and Target they can specify a date for them to be put out, but when they send them out too early the employees at both stores inevitably put them on the shelves without paying attention to that release date--and it happened this weekend for this film.  I'll wrap the images in spoiler tags, but you can see below some mild spoilers for the film including what Gorr looks like, what Lady Thor and Thor look like in costume, some sort of alternate look for Hemsworth described as

as well as several characters we had no idea would be in the film but apparently are, although all of them are exceedingly easy to guess based upon what Thor indicated he would be doing towards the end of Avengers: Endgame.  I usually detest spoilers, but nothing below matters at all to me because it doesn't ruin much of anything about the story aside from who will be in it--and as I mentioned none of these are much of a surprise and who I could have guessed might be in it anyway without thinking about it for more than a minute or two.

Gorr isn't all that visually appealing to my eyes.  But from what little I know about him it's more about how he behaves, so him looking like he does may have no bearing on how cool he is in the film.

Looks realllllly silly at this point. I’m sure the next trailer will have a different feel. Honestly though, I’d rather the silly Thor than the feel we had in the first 2 films.
