I have to wait to watch it on a smaller screen.  The animation style is just too much for me on a big screen.

Not to worry. From your expert predictions, this is an 80's animation style that will release on PBS, the CW and ABC. All these forumite reviews are a fabrication to build excitement for the nostalgic VHS and Beta Max release.

only June but probably not too soon to declare winner in 2023 CBM race:

Audience: A CinemaScore

BO: may be headed to $650M+ WW or 6.5x production budget

Critics: 95 RT, 87 Metacritic

International was soft again, just like it was with the first one.

$550M worldwide by the end.

(IMDB shows the budget at $150M, by the way)

We'll see where it is after July 4th weekend.

June is tough, with:

  • Transformers
  • The Flash
  • Indiana Jones

And then Mission Impossible playing mop-up on July 7.

Shocked to see the 87 Metacritic.  I read over some of the lowest reviews (50's and 60's).  I can't say they're wrong if they're someone who doesn't like varying art styles, dizzying colors, and over the top pace.

Saw it with my 12 year old daughter on Saturday morning.

She wants to be Spider-Gwen for Halloween.

The worst part of this movie is "To Be Continued..."

(and no post credits scene... just head out when you're ready.)

If you know that going in... enjoy! :foryou:

Loved it, my only complaint was some of the audio was really bad in my screening. Apparently this is not just an isolated screening incident. I couldn't understand pretty much any of what Gwen was saying when she was narrating. It was a Dolby Atmos screening too that felt like I was missing the whole right audio channel.

This movie was ok!

(really it was great.)  Only somewhat disappointed by:

Spoiler

Cliffhanger.  Like, I knew that this was "Part 1" going in, but that didn't necessarily mean it had to end on a cliffhanger like that.  Plenty of "Part 1"s manage to still have reasonably satisfying endings.  Just recently Dune Part 1 comes immediately to mind. Avengers Infinity War was also different because even though, on the one hand, it felt like a cliffhanger, technically it wasn't.  It was a complete story where the villain just won.   Cliffhangers in general annoy me.
