According to CBR, the series will boast a TV-MA rating. The show’s page on the Netflix website goes into further detail, explaining that the rating is due to “language, violence, sex, self-harm, suicide, smoking.” In all honesty, it would’ve been more surprising had the series been rated anything other than TV-MA. Currently published under DC’s adult-oriented Black Label line, The Sandman has always been a very adult comic. So, receiving a TV-MA rating suggests the Netflix adaptation will hue fairly close to the comic’s tone and subject matter. A suggestion that only bolsters my hopes for the series. Amen!
