Surely you can see the difference between that and the pandering in movies like eternals tho.

There's also quite a wide gulf between using political themes in a satire intended to skewer certain behaviors and the kind of societal fawning/pandering that goes on in Eternals through casting and writing.  It's hard to imagine Dr. Strangelove being as impactful if the Generals has been treated as lovingly as the Eternals characters.  Given the growing "Peace at any price" movement of the times, it would have drawn protests.  I'm surprised there haven't been protests over some of the ironic depictions of a couple of the Eternals characters.

Sorry. Was out enjoying the local museums with everyone having time off together.

There was something definitely off with that movie for me. They wanted to immerse you so much into the Eternals just coming back together and chatting about history and events like everyday people I just couldn't find what I was looking for as a long-time Jack Kirby fan of the series. Let alone any social or political themes thrown at us.

With more money still to be made, Spider-Man: No Way Home has officially become Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing movie of all time as of today!

Spider-Man: No Way Home has grossed $516.4 million to date domestically, per “Deadline“, which pushes it ahead of the final domestic take of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ($515.2 million). Globally, the Spidey sequel has taken in $1.16 billion and that officially makes it Sony’s highest-grossing movie ever. Our favorite wall-crawler was their previous record-holder as Spider-Man: Far From Home had a final global take of $1.13 billion.

The impressive thing about the performance of No Way Home is that it’s breaking these records during the pandemic as the Omicron COVID variant is surging worldwide. For instance, the Sony film has accomplished the $516.4 million domestic feat in just 12 days while it took The Rise of Skywalker 91 days to finish with its domestic total. For those taking score, Spider-Man: No Way Home is also the highest-grossing domestic earner ever for Sony, No. 14 on the list of all-time grossing movies at the domestic box office, and the fifth highest-grossing MCU film stateside of all time. Keep in mind, it’s not even close to done yet collecting more money from moviegoers.

Has it been announced if this movie will be released in China?  Or is this one of the movies that China is blocking?

January 14th I believe, as it has been approved

THURSDAY AM UPDATE, Wednesday box office numbers: In its 13th day of release, Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home counts $536.6M at the domestic box office, making it the No. 12 highest grossing movie in U.S. and Canada of all-time.

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings past Disney’s 2016 Christmas hit Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ($532.1M) and Warner Bros.’ top grossing stateside title of all-time, The Dark Knight ($534.8M), on the all-time box office domestic list. The Tom Holland-Zendaya-Benedict Cumberbatch ensemble movie will soon overtake Disney’s 2019 reboot of The Lion King ($543.6M, No. 11) with Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 ($608.5M, No. 10) also in its sights.
