Something spicy-exciting like "It's a comic book movie!"

As you might suspect, that gif captures my level of excitement about the film perfectly.

a few reviews i saw imply that this movie is so bad, it's great, kind of like tommy wiseau's cult classic THE ROOM.

is this at all true, for those who've seen it? obviously it cannot be bad in quite the same way since it's done with an enormous budget and a cast of real actors. but it's said that dakota's performance is only slightly better than tommy's, as is her effort level.

Yeah so I can see in my own future that I save two hours by never watching this movie.

Seriously this is the only superhero movie thus far that I won't even try and watch.  I actually attempted The Marvels and even watched Eternals all the way through, but this dumpster fire of a movie won't even get a "bored Sunday with nothing else to do" viewing.

I don't think I ever finished New Mutants...

Was extraordinarily stoked for that one based on the trailer, but by the time I finally tried to watch it via streaming years later, it just wasn't worth the time to complete.

At least Jonah Hex and Ghost Rider (1 and 2) were all in the "so bad they're good" categories.

I watched it over the weekend. Ooof. Such a pointless story. The acting is horrible. The bad guy is dull. Yet, my wife liked it better than The Eternals (she did have 3 drinks before going in)

Is that the secret?

Even the stars are mocking the film now. Hopefully a Sony executive or two catches the heat for destroying an opportunity to right-size the live films ship.

What opportunity? Just the fact that they chose these characters to make a movie out of means it was doomed from before the start.

Want to know the ONLY thing that will "right the live films ship" here?  A Spider-Man movie.

That's it.

It doesn't have to be just Spider-Man only films as long as they associate with the Spider-Verse stronger.

Venom was a standalone film with potential leading towards a Spider-Man matchup. How'd it do?

Nah.  It is more than possible to make a decent, or even great, film using any character.  Provided you have a good story to tell.

The problem with the Sony Spider-U-Verse is that they have put the horse before the cart.  Which is to say, someone went "Hey! Spider-Man is popular.  We have the rights to all these Spider-Man adjacent characters.  We need to go make a movies out of all of them and just wait for the cash to come rolling in!"

And then Venom happened and it was a big hit and thus they determined that this strategy was obviously correct.

So we got Morbius. And Madam Web. And soon-to-come Kraven the Hunter. With no one actually giving a **** about the story (or, if I'm being generous, only giving the barest of *****.  Someone probably cared, but didn't have the ability to make it good on the schedule the studio pre-determined)
