I have no idea why this movie bombed.  I mean the guys (Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless) that wrote the movie have such a huge roll call of hits to their name;

"Take 'The Last Witch Hunter' out of your mouth!"

Dude I'm not judging you, if I was doing that I'd have brought up your cosplaying as Gerald Butler from the "Gods of Egypt".

:nyah:

Man, that movie was trash of the worst caliber.

But seriously, The Last Witch Hunter surprised me as I just assumed fairly new writers and a later Vin Diesel. Tiny surprises can happen.

You must be one of the only ones it surprised.

But I get it, we all like different (not great things).  Not to bust on only you, but I enjoyed Dracula Untold.

Neither movie is what I'd call "Cenematic Gold".

I actually like Dracula Untold too. That tie-in near the end to a larger universe was a decent tease. But then Universal got spooked and claimed, "Oh that isn't the beginning of our MonsterVerse. The Mummy with Tom Cruise will be the beginning!"

Heads need to roll at Sony for yet another disaster, a disaster that most any id10t predicted from the day Madame Web was announced.

P.S. Those still sitting on piles of Peter Parker 24 clinging to hope a "Hypno Hustler" film will be made..well it wont be!   Unless of course Sony converts their business model to a full time money laundering organization!

those are the Moe Ron's who love to use the cliched "I don't trust reviewers" or similar tripe. The same F00Ls who then are upset they wasted 2 hours and some coin on dreck...

Man, it's stuff like this that just makes you go, hmmmmmmm.

Like, I have to assume these writers are NOT coming up with the story for these movies.  That's got to be some executive/director saying "this is what I want" and then they just go hire some dudes to "write" it.  Which probably involves putting it in proper screenplay format and not a lot else.  There's no way these people would keep getting hired based on their brilliant ideas or the cleverness of their dialogue, or, basically anything creative they might have to do.  They are (probably cheap) hired guns.  Maybe they work fast too.

Probably easy to write fast when you don't need to worry about things like plot, character development, or coherent dialog.

I will pay to see this movie!  Probably this week even!

I do this fully knowing it is going to be bad.

I will probably enjoy it more that way.

Honestly at this point I think Sony is just laundering money/tax write offs with these movies.  I mean seriously who at Sony said "Well let's have the same guys that wrote Morbius do this one for us!".

lol, they're the guys that go to the reverse-pitch meetings.

In fairness, looks like they are the (co)creators and writers of the Lost in Space reboot on Netflix, which was pretty good.  So, maybe when they're doing their own stuff they're okay.

Probably still getting some business off residual goodwill from that series as well, as I don't see any of those other shows being particularly anything to brag about on one's resume.
