Tiger, tiger!

That Kunstler Tiger is an absolute classic.  A book length scan of the issue recently showed up at pulpscans courtesy of one of our paper donators and one of our best scanners.

at the IA:

some absolutely killer interior illos in the issue:
Bob Shulz

The 1001 Lives of Novarro the Tiger

Rudy Nappi

Call Girl Bait

John Leone

Death of a Mob

Charles Capriano

The Blonde Who Runs the Syndicate

 Ed Valigurski

The Bag-Busting Spree of the Arizona Kid

My fave in the issue, Samson Pollen

Mr Nobody

What an issue!

I would guess it's more likely a warehouse find.  Battle Cry is a great title.  (thumbsu

Yeah, I dunno.  I see some water damage at upper left corners and maybe some light gnawing or wear at the bottom left corners.  Wherever they were kept, it wasn't toooo nice of a locale.

22 copies of a random Battle Cry just might saturate the market :D

I'm seeing a weird price swing upwards in the sweats, but I really haven't watched them very closely. The weird menace/torture cover lovers used to be the only ones that would really shell out.  Imagine it's still true to some extent.

I'm hunting some again, so this is one of my favorite threads on the boards right now.

All y'all with your beautiful, shiny magazines shouldn't have invited me to the party :canofworms:

A very cheap trio I got in this week, curious about this Charlton title.  Happily the lot included the v01n01 and second issue as well.   Kind of an interesting sweat.  All war stories and mostly photography, but there does seem to be at least one art splash per, and one of the issues has a few.  It ran for eight issues in all.

Apart from the rendering, I love the fact that the hunter is evidently stalking a person whose footprints are visible in the snow. Imagine turning around to find a stalking tiger right behind you!

New ones.  I liked that Peril with the tiger back there so much I got my own (not so shiny) copy

Perilv04n05(1960-10.PeriodicalPackagers)cover.thumb.jpg.467efdf0bcfde6d280206199a5fd8018.jpg

And the first issue of an Arnold sweat

a couple of splashes from the issue and Bill Ward "moonlighting" as McCarthy (as if the style and missle boobs don't give it away)

New one.  Picked it up after posting an old scan of that previous issue up above hoping for more nice splashes (I think it's one of three in the series with one of these "come-on" covers which I'm always fond of).

Only 2 art splashes and neither very good.  The smoking blonde will have to do.

This is one of those magazines where there was a piece dangling in the eBay photo that shows up missing (triangle upper right).  Funny how often that happens.  Scanning copy, though, and like ten bucks incl. shipping, no tears.

Yeah, it's gotta be Betty!

That issue has a Harlan Ellison story in it.  It looks like most of the other issues have many Robert Silverberg stories by various pen names.  It's kind of an odd run, maybe a little bit more transgressive than other MAMs of the era and seems to command higher prices than your average title.

I stuck an old scan of the next issue up here:

A splash from this one I found funny for a Silverberg story:
