For those of you are so unfortunate not to have a raw copy, you will never know what upset the “good doctor” so much. ”Treating police contemptuously” Ha Ha! Totally normal. Back in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, comics typically hit the retail newsstands and spinner racks two months prior to their cover date. Compare the arrival dates and cover dates on these coded River City copies. LDarkseid1, adamstrange, Tri-Color Brian and 2 others
LDarkseid1
Well, saying goodbye to some books in the next two C-Link auctions. Should be interesting to see how they do. Couple pedigree copies with the #8 and #199. Edited July 31, 2022 by LDarkseid1 OtherEric
LDarkseid1
Well pretty bummed! I'm not even sure how many people knew about this, but there's been a Strange Adventures TV series in the works for quite some time now. Was going to air on HBO Max, but has been in development limbo. It looks like Kevin Smith was actually working on an episode. Anyway, with the recent Discovery merger and soo much getting axed, this hit the chopping block as well. It honestly sounded interesting, although from the description I think the only element that was actually attached to the comic series was literally just the name. However, could have been a cool way to introduce characters at some point like Captain Comet, Adam Strange or Deadman. So yeah, sucks! https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/warner-bros-just-canceled-yet-another-anticipated-dc-project/ar-AA10rhfg?ocid=&cvid=e459c36be7354c95af3582fd218a0111 Edited August 8, 2022 by LDarkseid1 OtherEric
LDarkseid1
Can't remember if I mentioned this, but I had CGC create a dedicated Captain Comet Registry Set under Strange Adventures. In case anyone wants to create a set for that one, on top of the overall Strange Adventures and Deadman Registry Sets that were already available. Just seemed like a pertinent enough part of the series to have its own section. Edited August 8, 2022 by LDarkseid1
LDarkseid1
Nice little pickup recently. Had no idea this was a bit of an expensive book with an (other grading company) 6.5 selling for $355 in the recent Comiclink Auction. I don't think my #6 white page 6.5 will even sell for that. Some of those early 100's can go for quite a bit. hchill25 and OtherEric
OtherEric
My 116 is probably around a 5... not high grade, but not a rag either. It seems like right now, with a few exceptions, any Strange Adventures in the 10 cent era is an outlier... they're all over the place from sale to sale. Yeah I’ve always just noticed everything from issue 21-99 can be soo tough to find in super high grade, just doesn’t exist save for a handful. Mainly 8.5’s and 8.0’s tend to be the highest graded. So they can go for soo much! I mean, sold my #64 CGC 8.5 tied with another for highest graded for $1300 🤯. That was insane to me lol. There was a little while it was single highest, and I might have got more had I sold then. LDarkseid1
Won this in an auction on eBay today. Just working more and more to completing my Captain Comet part of the series and upgrading when possible. I’d love to make it a predominantly high grade set, with issues no less than 3rd highest graded, but it’s just tough to find those lol. Think this will get maybe a 6.5ish after a press, miracle would be a 7.0 🙏 . Highest is 1 9.0 with 2nd highest a single 8.0, so not bad.
