I wasn't sure of your comment so I checked my database of TMNT #1 1st prints for sales of 9.8's only. You may be correct, there appears to be a discount to selling on Clink versus Heritage and Comic Connect, at least for the 9.8 grade. Here are a few examples:

Heritage: 11/21/19 $52.8K

Clink: 12/5/19 $50K

CConnect: 4/30/20 $59K

Clink: 7/7/20 $58K

Wow, nice to see your sleuthing skills at work and able to match up these CGC 9.8 TMNT 1 results on the competing platforms.  (thumbsu

Let's not forget the groundbreaking $90K Heritage auction back in August of 2019 which seemingly laid the groundwork for these subsequent sales into the $50K to $65K price range after the book was stuck in the mid-$30K rut for the two years prior to that:  :applause:

Modern Age (1980-Present):Alternative/Underground, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (Mirage Studios, 1984) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages....

Were all of these from auction sales except for the CC result for $59K April of 2020 which was a low profile non-auction private sale of the exact same $90K Heritage copy from August of 2019 that started off this whole price acceleration for not only TMNT 1, but for all of the early TMNT books?  :tonofbricks:

Definitely interesting to also see the big move up from the $60K price point right up into the $200K territory and wondering if there were some other intervening auction results which propel the book to make such an astonomical jump besides the so-called "stuck at home free government money Covid factor" which no doubt helped to push prices of all collectibles up temporarily?  hm

CC copy sold for $155,250 + 15%

Comiclink now at $106,000 with 5 days left...

Interestingly, the CC copy was allowing offers previous to the auction and the highest was ~$150K with a "buy it now" price of $200K. All the drama and $5,250 extra.

As per @GM8's post below, you would be incorrect here as CC's sale price of $155,250 ALREADY includes the 15% BP since the auction is now already over with the FINAL result now posted:  :gossip:

It means the CC "hammer" price on the book was only $135K and the 15% BP juice brought it up to $155,250.  (thumbsu

Looks like the CL copy is still stuck at $106K which is actually not surprising consider that CL's customer base loves to use last second sniping to try to toss a Hail Mary bid to win their book.    :taptaptap:  :taptaptap:

Needless to say, consignors absolutely love it when they can get more than one bidder throwing these Hail Mary type bids in at the last second.   :whee: :takeit:

Heritage auction closed at $120K (w buyers premium).

I happened to log in to the live auction feed as it was happening. The last price was at $90K, then it jumped to $100K and then at $110 with no further bids. The total price with buyers premium was listed as this happened at $132K, however in checking the listing afterwards it settled at $120K. Not sure the change. Could have meant the final bidder didn't commit/failed to commit and they took the second-to-last-bid (more likely), or they lowered the buyer's premium (less likely).

Either way, a large step back in value for this book. Seeing as I have one myself I am not happy with the current market of course. A 50%+ pullback in price from the top of $250K on 10/13/2021 is significant.

I watched the auction as well and it seemed to me to end properly at 120,000.    I wonder if the 132k you were looking at was the ask for the next bid.

That's exactly what it was............the next hammer bid was calling for $110K which would have resulted in a final $132K price, but no takers here.  (thumbsu

Most definitely significant but sadly, also not that surprising considering that it already has over 40 copies in this grade and still counting. :frown:

From a percentage point of view, however, appears to be in line with many of the other drops that have taken place in the "hot" books from the more recent time periods in this post-Covid comic book marketplace.  :(

Yea that lighting that struck during the pandemic, just like covid, is something we might not ever experience again in our lifetime. If you were looking to maximize profit and did not cash in during this time you might have missed the boat. At least as far as getting those insane prices most collectibles where hitting. Most things have come back down to earth and its probably going to settle there just like before.

Let's revisit this next year or even 2025.

A new listing on Comic Link for a 9.8, this one SN 0950071001 listed for sale for $159,900. This copy has a LOT of sales history. It last sold by my records back in 2018 for $38K on Heritage. Previous to that it sold on 4/1/16 for $27K on Comic Connect (with a possible quick re-sale on ebay for $24k although that one is sketchy because of the seller's "nick_bridger" history with bogus sales). There were more previous sales, but just know that this copy has been the hot-potato of 9.8's!

I recently obtained this and it's large. Larger than my comic boxes and larger than any poly bag I own.

What size bag would fit? I like my slabs to be bagged since that stops slab clouding.

It's a magazine size slab, since it is a magazine size book, and there are magazine size cgc boxes.

I'd take it, when it was 24K
