Copies hit $3500-$4k range during pandemic, but had settled around $2k-$2500 recently. However, there is a new feature film currently shooting, and a new series heading to FX. So, the property is going to be in the spotlight again shortly, which could explain FOMO as some collectors try to get this in their collection before the brand is newly relevant. That being said, smells like shilling to me. A $4-$5k jump like that...it just doesn't sit right. Not impossible, but...I don't see it. However, that's only in comparison to previous highs around $1800, so it's not a crazy jump like the #1 saw. As a general rule, I don't sell my Aliens books. Also, interestingly (and perhaps telling about the difficulty of the book in the grade), no new 9.8’s added to the census since that April 1st sale. Yeah I feel like this is bound to dip but probably won't see it until another one goes up for auction (the recent one was buy-it-now). Still, it was selling solid over $2500 for a while, so I imagine the floor has moved up a bit, at least for the foreseeable future. 6.5% (or whatever it is) is pretty low 9.8 percentage for the era of book, and I feel like the cross-over appeal and impending show+movie could carry it for a while. That said, 10x 9.6 feels more realistic--a lot of other 70's/80's books with tough covers that are hard to get that extra push to 9.8 carry a similar multiplier. 20x though...feels a bit much. Sold prices are all over the place, from around $350 to $700+, depending on god knows what. That book has zero place there, it has nothing to do with Aliens vol 1 storyline. It is just an interview with the artist and author.
