Man! I've seen so many copies of that book come along that I'm kind of surprised that a 9.2 is the highest-graded copy. It certainly isn't a rare book by any stretch of the imagination, but apparently it's more scarce in high grade than I had realized.

Probably all in low grade condition though as the census indicates a total of 63 Universal copies for Suspense 8, with 31 or about half of these being in CGC 4.0 or lower.  As compared to Suspense 11 with a total of 69 Universal copies and only 17 or about a quarter of them in CGC 4.0 or lower.  

At the other end of the condition scale, you have only the one single CGC 9.2 graded Promise copy of Suspense 8 sitting there above CGC 7.5 and yet you have a much higher dozen copies of Suspense 11 sitting above CGC 7.5.  Hence, it's pretty much safe to say that Suspense 8 is definitely much scarcer in high grade when compared to the Suspense 11.

Many of them were high grade . . . unless you doubt the veracity of eBay sellers' grading.

Update!

With the close of today's Heritage Auction, 46 Promise books were added to the ROI snapshot, two of which sold earlier in the month via HA and CC.

The current rate of return for June is trending down at -34%.

Nine esoteric books will be auctioned by HA as the month comes to a close. Those books will be captured in a later update.

The golden rule seems to be "keep your promises" ...it's less costly than promises not kept!

Well, if this keeps up and I certainly don't see any change in the downtrend to date, we might just have to rename this thread to "Post Your Promise Collection Wins Losses".

Call me an outlier,  but a total 25% loss isn’t that bad.  Is it?  There are many stocks and investments that were down, or still at 25% down in recent years.  Bottom line for me is that these buyers sold too soon after buying too high.  Of course 25% is in the aggregate, for all books resold in public auctions tracked in the list.  It’s probably true that some buyers took most of the losses, and coughed up a much higher %.

anyone care to recalculate the numbers based on purchase price not date?  Say the % loss for books over 100K, and 50-100K etc?

In HG GA comics, it's pretty bad. It's not a sector that has seen bull and bear cycles--rather, it's pretty much been a straight line bull market since 1938.  The only precedent I can think of is the Gary Keller books, but the total dollar amounts were so much less (even if they seemed mindboggling to many of us at the time).

I can’t see anything I have ever sell for a loss. Maybe a little less profit than I accepted on a few.

Just the benefit of doing it for a LONG time, buying stuff I really liked not falling into the emotional hole of buying and mostly resisting the urge to sell them at all.

Yeah. In our little comics world where we bought stuff decades ago, breaking even when selling is a massive fail. But aren’t we pretty comfortable assuming that these prices were bought by others?  By New people attracted by rising prices, as an alternate (sure thing?) investment?  I was writing in that sense…. that taking a flyer on hot or rare GA high grade copies was akin to loading up on other sure things 2 years ago, like more bitcoin at 50-60K each? Rose colored glasses and Bad timing !
