They’re auctioning pretty much all of the OA from the Garfield strips on Heritage, 30+ years worth.  It’s been going for about a year but probably has a ways to go with the sheer volume of strips being offered  (10,000 or so), so plenty of chance to get them still.

May break my posts up into 3 as there maybe an under the wire gold win. 

I started to rebuild my silver collection this year. No 'real' keys this time around, (gold buying already pricey enough) just covers or issues that I think stand out to me. These were my top 3 gets on that front

Hard to pick three, as I picked up many great books this year. These were early 2021 pickups. Like many collectors here, my buying was done by end of February in terms of major keys due to the insane market spikes.

But I have one more coming on a deal I just completed with an awesome boardie! Excited to show it off, but it may not arrive until after the holidays. We’ll see!

Great pickup.  One of my all-time favourite artists, who I never got to meet in person.  I was lucky enough to have an ashcan comic sent to me by Howard Greber, self-published and signed by Corben, which, as an added surprise, Howard had included as a free extra book in one of my packages.

So, I understand the excitement.

My first OA.   Bought it from a local dealer.  Super nice guy.  Just the stock photo right now.  Haven't actually brought it home yet.  Gotta go rob a bank first . . .  I mean make a withdrawal.

It is always tough to pick three out, but here goes..., 

Well carp, #3 and #4 were both CBCS - Detective 365 and Doom Patrol 89, and so is #5, Adventure 247. I got tired of looking so the last one is in the top 30, anyway.

Ive had a really good year this year with my EC collection! I 3 great EC covers.

Ive been wanting a copy of WSF 29 for awhile and the prices are starting to go crazy but I was able to grab a copy at a fair price. Now the cover is split and nearly hanging on but Ill take it.

I dont go after MAD books very often but when this copy came up I made an offer and it was accepted! But the funny thing is I just got another copy thats on its way, and its a big upgrade.

The SSS 6 I never thought Id be able to afford and I got one for a great price in the grade range. Great stories in this one!

So the goal this year was to get rid of more than I purchased and be far more selective than I have ever been.  There were a couple of things purchased that are still sitting in a box ungraded until the whim strikes me to submit some books again.   However, despite being selective this year I did cross off a couple of things on the bucket list.  For example I had never once owned a copy of NM98.  Thanks to @jaybuck43 for helping me out with that and thanks to @kav for the inspiration to buy two more.  Within one month I picked up three copies just out of "spite" (and not because I think it will be monster huge when Disney finally lets Ryan Reynolds play in the MCU... nope).   Honorable mention to @Point Five for the Detective Comics 359.  I really did want a copy back in my collection for the longest.   (I'm cheating and putting it in here).

1 - Walt Disney Comics and Stories 22  - This was a book that had eluded me for a number of years.  It is the second war cover in title and presentable covers have not been in abundance.  Basically, I struck out every time I tried to pick one up.  

2 - Detective Comics 164 - This was an upgrade from a lower grade 3.5 copy I own.  I had been on the lookout for one of these for awhile.  It is one of my most favorite Batman covers from the Golden Age and one of the few comics on display by virtue of the refrigerator magnet I have on the fridge of this issue. 

3 - Captain America 48 - It's a raw book but I have been trying to win one of these for years ever since I won one from Heritage and it came back trimmed.  I can deal with some CT on a Golden Age book but I am not a fan of trimmed which is kind of weird to type as this raw copy is missing a portion of the back cover.  Still, Cap is fighting in the NYC Subway system so I can cross this off the collecting bucket list. 

Honorable Mention: Detective Comics 359 - I had sold off my Batman collection 201- then current and assorted Detective Comics issues around 13 (?) years ago.  I have few regrets about doing it as I turned that into better things.  However, I always wanted to replace a couple to put in the box with the Golden Age Batman books.  This was one of them.  Thanks to Point Five for doing the sale as I discovered the for sale ad as he was closing it.  Thanks !

1) And my #1 comic purchase of all time. It's missing the back cover and centerfold and the front cover is married, but I never thought I'd own Detective Comics 33, the origin of Batman.

In the parlance of those olden days it was always "The" Batman and never just Batman
