Set against the backdrop of Downtown like that, it looks HUGE. Also looks like a nice newish facility. Sigh...one year I'll make the trek. Even if I don't buy anything it just seems like something I need to check off the nerd bucket list. Black Bat
AndyFish
And that doesn't include the offsite events that are part of the official programs. The entire city turns comic book-- I stopped at a market to pick up some food for the hotel room (okay and Vodka) and all the displays in the store were superhero themed, and this was about a mile away from the convention center. And I was there in '18 too-- 165k seems about right-- I think NYCC numbers are close or even higher, but the crowd is much more spread out at SDCC, plus let's be honest, NYC is great but San Diego is a vacation spot. Popular Post Mmehdy
Had a fantastic time at 1972 50th anniversary comic con dinner, the first year in the El Cortez hotel, which I attended way back when, I sat next to Terry Stroud and will make some great comments in the "gold section" about discussing history. So far great con!!!!! see you guys there.....just posed on gold bits of my convention conversation. Popular Post BitterOldMan
Even though I did not attend SDCC this year, I received a phone call from the hardest working comic book dealer in the exhibit hall at 5 PM Friday. He had found a comic book on my want list graded at 5.5. I thanked him and told him how much I appreciated him looking out for me. The caller was the fabulous Harley Yee. Popular Post davidtere
SDCC was fun for me (again) this year. Since I spend all of my time (and money) with the OA and Comic sellers (Silver and Gold Pavillion) in their respective areas (I don't bother going where the other stuff is) I didn't have much to deal with regarding crowds. I was able to check off 10 Fiction House Jumbo's (I have about 11 to go to finish the run between # 69 - 129) and picked up a couple of OA pages plus two other unexpected cool Sunday strips (a Gus Arriola Gordo and a Walt Kelly Pogo). I kicked a lot of boxes, got some misc. comics, said hello to a lot of friends I have missed over the last couple of years (even had a fun chat with the charming Mr. Bedrock). It does make it easy because I'm a local guy, so there's that. Since I know it doesn't exist unless there are pictures...here is one. Looking forward to next year. thecollectron, alexgross.com, Robot Man and 7 others 9
